I have finally had a chance to get to the bottom of fair week. We had a good week but busy week. The kids had a couple of inside sewing projects. Here is my daughter modeling a skirt and jacket that she made. It was a big project. ![]() Not to be out done and because we believe in equal opportunity my son made this scrub top. ![]() Now to the horse stuff. We require all the kids to have an adult riding with each of the driving kids. My older son wanted his mother to ride with him instead of someone else. I think they looked kind of cute. ![]() ![]() My younger son drew the short straw and had to have dad ride with him. ![]() ![]() Then on to the team stuff. ![]() ![]() It was a great show. We had 14 kids in the single pony events. It was great to see that kind of enthusiasm. In 3 years the program has gone from 6 to 15. I am a little worried about what it will look like in 3 more years. Baby sister had put the boys on warning that she is taking the paint mare in 2 years. They have one more year to compete use the mare and then little sister is gunning for high point. I love to see the determination on the little girls face when she informs the boys that she will beat them with their own horse. The younger son is looking at the shire mares and seeing big team and a large single. Me I am thinking that team of donks might be the only think the kids won't try and take. |

LF what great pics, as always! It is so nice to see families doing things together like that. The ponies and the kids are adorable! I loved 4-H and county fair time when I was a kid/teen, it is one thing I really miss. Can't wait till my daughter is old enough to participate. |

Way to go LF Family! AWSOME photos. It is nice to see that so many Jrs. are out competing! So many Driving Clubs concentrate on the older members, and do not seem to remember that "their future Drivers", are coming up from their Junior Divisions. Then they wonder why their Driving Clubs diminish so quickly. Plus Fall Fairs are a wonderful place for the hard working Juniors to earn some bucks back, rather than just the ribbons & trophy's.

CDE, Yes we did get harness for the hackney ponies. My FIL was the photog as my usual photog was playing mom riding with her hansom prince. I have a call into to the lady that took pictures for the fair and I will be posting pictures, results of all the other kids. One of the hackney ponies won or was reserve in the pleasure class, one placed in cones and the bay team placed in one of the team classes. One harness that we were going to put on the hackney was put to another pony and that harness ended up on the hackney. It was a mad scramble to get all the ponies and kids outfitted, but we made it in the end. LF |
