...some are saying that it's a step towards the 2012 Presidential election, but honestly. I see it as political suicide if she does intend to run. Why would anyone elect someone who couldn't/wouldn't complete their term as Gov? It's entirely possible she has a very good personal reason for resigning. Just found it interesting. |

The Twittersphere provide me with these three links. All with very different opinions of why Palin might have stepped down. IMO, the only plausible excuse is scandal. I hate to say it, but in this country, people might have been dumb enough to vote for her in 2012. But not if she wears the label of "quitter", which is what she'll now wear. I for one am fascinated by just how insane this woman is. Did you hear her speech???? horrible, and she was awkwardly laughing through most of it, like a crazzzzyyyy person would. Scary how close she came to the highest post in the land. I wonder if there is more of a scandal but I honestly think she wants to make money (write and promote her book) and maybe do something on Fox News or something. I unfortunately think she wants to INCREASE her exposure to those of us in the lower 48 and she may not be thinking of 2012, she may be thinking 2016 or 2020 for all we know. We just know she isn't thinking about ALASKA. Crazy - when even the replublicans say this was a dumb, "embarassing" and "bizarre" move...you know you gots trouble. I cannot believe that there are people out there who think she's the shiznit and would be an appropriate presidential candidate. Are you kidding me? I'm glad she's getting out of her job - it will be better for Alaska to have someone who is focused on the career of attending to the state's needs vs. trying to do it as a part-time job while doing goodness-knows what else. Go out and become a pundit ( ) or write a book about child-rearing ( ) or travel the states teaching abstinence (  ) or stand up for conservative christian values ( ).It will be interesting to see in the coming weeks if there is anything to that link that was posted about the construction company, or if there is some kind of scandal brewing. I just love it when hypocrites are exposed. |

I think she'll get on the "Alaska secede" train. Sell oil to the former USA. After all she did give a (recorded) speech to the A.I.P. a few years ago. And isn't Todd a big whig in the party? just kidding  Seriously now, what about the basketball reference?!  Amazing. Shoot self in foot. So, Sarah, when you get elected in 2012, are you gonna "pass the ball" again? I am hoping her supporters on TOC spread some wisdom on the subject. WHY in the heck did she resign? That's a great joke. She probably does think the Appalachian Trail goes all the way to Argentina. My personal view is that the long rumored (in Alaska & on web) "iceberg scandal" about her & her pals the company that built the Wasilla Sports Complex - and allegedly her house - is gonna hit the fan soon.  Truth is - as you may have guessed  - I'm not a fan of hers and have no clue. |

DH also stumbled across the "federal indictment for embezzlement" rumor too. That would make more sense to me. I cannot imagine she would attempt to run for president on half a governor's term, given that one of the biggest issues with her as VP candidate was her lack of experience. I hope it is something that would forever remove her from contention for the presidency. Her ignorance (and arrogance) is embarrassing at best and dangerous at worst. Certainly I do not agree with most of her positions, especially those on social issues, but I would have been able to respect her point of view had she been able to argue her position intelligently. Apparently, however, even a coherent argument is beyond her abilities.  On a personal level, she is the epitome of everything I cannot stand about the conservative evangelical Christians in this country.
