Posting for a friend. Contact Mary at 585-798-2222 or email summer@forrestel.com for more information on any of the horses, or to schedule an appointment to try any.

I do know most of these horses personally and can offer a bit of info if you want to PM me. I will say the descriptions are accurate. I'd take any one of these guys home. Calvin is cute as a button. Trixie is the perfect all around mount. Roxy and Blondie would love to do pony club. I was out in the field today and they all were clamoring for attention! I know they'd love to have jobs this winter.

Biscuit:
Biscuit is a 10 year old Buckskin 13.2hh mare. She is the perfect pony for any confident rider and for any level rider out on trails. She loves to jump, is great in the barn and will go all day long. She will pasture with anyone and is an easy keeper. Biscuit is large enough for any small adult to ride also.

Blondie:
Blondie is a 11 year old Haflinger 13.2hh gelding. He is used for our intermediate to advanced lessons. He loves to jump and will go all day long. He is great to trail and loves to swim in our horse pond. He is a very easy keeper and will pasture with anyone.

Calvin:
Calvin is a 4 year old TB bay gelding, who is new to us this summer but is already a big favorite with everyone. Although only 4 he is very willing and eager to please. He is being ridden on the flat by our advanced campers and has started pole work. He is great to trail ride, great to handle in the barn, loves attention and will pasture with anyone.

Gracie:
Gracie is a 20 year old 15.2hh grey TB mare who is an excellent school horse on the flat. Due to her age we no longer jump her. Gracie requires a strong leg and light hands to hold her together at the canter.. Gracie is great on trails, good in the barn and an uncomplicated horse to ride.

Mercedes:
Mercedes is a 7 year old 13.2hh Bay pony mare. She is very patient with any rider capable of cantering and above. She is currently jumping small cross rails and cavaletti's. She is solid enough to carry a small adult, is great on trails, an easy keeper, good in the barn and will pasture with anyone.

Penny:
Penny is a 5 year old Black 16hh TB mare. She is new to us this summer, but is currently being schooled on the flat and has huge potential. She is a very willing and eager to please mare who loves attention. She will pasture with anyone.

Roxy:
Roxy is a 9 year old 15hh grey Arab mare. She is a very sweet mare, fun to ride and a wonderful jumper. She can easily jump 2'6-2'9. She knows her lead changes and is push button to ride. She is very tolerant of all riders and makes a great lesson horse. She is great on trail rides, is an easy keeper and will pasture with anyone.

Sweetie:
Sweetie is a 5 year old chestnut 15hh mare who is new to us this summer. She really is a sweetie who is eager to learn and loves attention. This summer she will be schooled on the flat by our advanced riders and she has huge potential. She is great in the barn and will pasture with anyone.

Trixie:
Trixie is a 6 year old strawberry roan 14hh mare. She is a sweet and talented young mare. Any confident walk, trot rider can ride her. Trixie is a fantastic jumper who can easily jump 3 ft. She is willing to please, is great on trails and in the barn and will pasture with anyone.

What sort of lease? Long-term? Lease to buy? Or just seasonal? I'm not reeeeeally in the market but you never know.... Definitely not interested in on-farm or short term, though. But in case anyone else is reading this.....maybe more details will help!

TBF, it is from mid-August to mid-June of next year.

While it is a 10 month lease, all of the horses are for sale, trust me! ;) The best thing to do is lease one you like, then call about December/January and see about buying it if you so desire.

Even if you don't want to buy, it is not such a bad gig. They own about 60 horses and many of them go to the same homes year after year.... just spend 8 weeks a year at camp. The horses are generally well schooled and well cared for. Many spend the winters doing IHSA or in show homes, or doing pony club and such.

Baby is the absolute epitome of a child's mount and if I could afford board on two, I'd have her home with me! Lopez and Scruffy are both favorites of mine as well but more for intermediate riders. Jack is an absolute saint but slowing down a little bit after many years of doing upper level dressage. Blaze is the ultimate trail horse, and Frodo is a sweet older gent perfect for the little kids. Trixie is the cutest strawberry roan, perfect for an advanced beginner to have fun with. Wilbur is a cheeky little dude with a sense of humor.

I could go on all day about them.... I love them all.....

I do know that they are sort of looking for permanent retirement homes for both Dora and Gracie. Dora still has lots of years of use left, just no heavy jumping. Gracie I suspect has Cushings but she is sweet and still trail safe for an advanced beginner.

There are So Many Nice Ones... just good all-arounders...... let me know if there are any you are interested in and I can give you the back story on them! ;)

Hmm...interesting!! Well, I've got 3 full stalls (intentional!) to make sure I don't make any spur of the moment moves....but nothing is permanent (temporarily have my trainer's gelding w/ navicular but I'm not sure these 3 will all get along well enough once the pasture closes and they are in closer quarters....) Ultimately I am looking for a horse that my girls can ride at home....can also do a pony, I'm only 5'1. I will keep this in mind, but not sure I'm ready to make a move during the summer because we're away a fair amount.

Does she have a website? Is there a requirement for distance? (I'm outside Albany so it's a long-ish haul)....

No distance requirement. She has horses go all over the east coast... of course she does ask a lot of questions when they are going that far, but it has worked out well for the most part. She does have a good shipper if you needed help with travel.

She's got a bunch of smaller horses and large ponies. Something to keep in the back of your head.... if not for this year, maybe another year!

I'm going to try to get some updated pics of the available horses, when I do I will post them.

I keep trying to figure out how I can take on a second horse for the winter... I want something little and fun to bomb around on, that will also be safe for Little FG to groom and be around. Not sure it will happen this year though.... ;)
