Is the meadow on fire?

I had my fiance come out last weekend to try and get some footage to make a sale video for Cruz. Let's just say that the venture was an epic fail.. I need a different camera (lots of file conversion issues that I've spent days trying to figure out with no success) and a different camera person. But bless his heart he tried. :teehee: Didn't help that it was 100 degrees and horse was fussy and cranky.

So instead of just deleting the whole thing and letting all the effort go to waste, y'all get to be subjected to a few clips.

And because I thought this picture really summed up the opinions of both the videoer and the videoee... their expressions are priceless. They were both over it. :mallet:

Awww I still think he's a cute dude! And the vids are not that bad! :) I think you've done a great job bringing him along, considering he was completely clueless prior to coming to you last fall!!

It's weird seeing him go.. no one's ever ridden him except for me so I've never gotten to really SEE what he looks like. I see a couple things I have to fix pronto, and then some things that feel way worse than they look. Guess I need to video more often since I'm trainerless these days.

Just a suggestion, but you might want to see if you can find a few different people to ride him a time or two (under your direction) so that he is use to other rides as well. I made that mistake a long time ago, had a horse for 4 years that I started and worked and was the only one ever on him. He was push button go for me but the first person to come out and ride him turned into a disaster cause he had never had anyone else on him. It was like he was green as grass. After that I ended up throwing a bunch of people on him so he would get use to things and then he sold rather quickly.

Were all supposed to give the same cues, but everyone has a different feel, and if your horse is only use to your feel, it may not go well when someone comes to try him.

I agree.

I tried a horse that was supposedly unflappably (is that a word?) quiet. I had known the horse for years, had seen him be unflappable, so I wasn't taking someone else's word for it. He was only 6, came off the track and had been with the same, VERY NICE, rider for 3 years. One other rider had been on him once, but she had been trained by the owner and rode very similar to her.

Let's just say the trial while not a disaster was humiliating for me. The horse did NOT like how I rode. He got more and more frustrated and sensitive. My trainer ended up getting on him and he tried to buck her off after a jump...I think as a continuation of the frustration from different riders (not because my trainer is a bad rider).

Well between you, headless and I, we form a lovely "Texas Triangle". :teehee:

Our family has a farm near Giddings. LOVE the Hill Country.

Awww, he's stunning. I'm pretty video-illiterate myself so I feel your pain in that regard. Still, FWIW his quality shows through, despite the vid! That last pic is very funny though. ;)
