I just figured I would give an update on Ty since its been 2.5 months since I bought him. He is doing really well and has settled in. We went through a slightly rough period where he decided to act like an ass on the lunge line and demonstrate that he could do airs above ground and rear like the black stallion. But luckily, he never tried it under saddle. I talked to my trainer and she was able to shift turnout schedules so that he could go out all day (he was going out 1/2days) and with a friend. Now he goes out with a tiny pony named Mickey who my trainer calls "Ty's toy". Anyway, he's grown 1.5" since I bought him! He's now 16.1 1/2 and everyone seems to think he will grow a bit more. He also went up a girth size to a 50" without being fat, so my baby is growing all over! My BF came and videoed some of my lesson yesterday so I could see how he progressed and caught Ty's first jump! Granted, it was a tiny X and he just trotted over it but I'm glad it was non-eventful and he maintained his "no big deal" attitude. He's a bit lazy, so he learned what spurs were two weeks ago when he decided he didnt want to canter anymore with my trainer. My trainer is taking a horse to a local show on Saturday and there is an open spot on the trailer, so she asked if I wanted to take him to just hang out. So we're gonna go and see what happens and if he isnt too freaked out by the chaos, we will school him there. We are taking it very slow with him since I am in no rush and he has been taking everything in stride. So long story short I love my horse! Here are two vidoes, feel free to critique but keep in mind how green he is. I dont know if you can tell any improvement, but he feels less like riding a 2x4!Here's his canter video: ![]() And his first jump (please dont laugh at him ):

Haha I had my computer on mute so I didnt hear her comentary, but I figured she had been yelling "leg leg leg" haha. So yes, she probally said to squeeze his guts out. He's pretty much happy to do whatever takes the least amount of effort and needs a tonnnn of leg. She rides him in little spurs and I'll probally start wearing them soon too...she says he's gonna be a "crop and spur" kinda horse =) |

So cute and love the first "jump"! He looked pretty happy about it! Funny you should post an update on him because I actually dreamed about him recently. I think it was all that weird dream talk on the Hay Loft and I woke up and thought "hmm...I wonder how Jersey Fresh's new horse is working out?" [Couldn't remember his name!] I love the videos! You both look great! |

When I saw the commet about "don't laugh," I assumed I was going to see one of those baby jumps where they leap straight into the air 10 feet above the tiny crossrail with legs hanging down like a Mud Wasp. He was actually very calm about the whole thing wasn't he? |

Ty looks fantastic. Love his first "jump"? Gotta love it when their attitude is so mellow they know not to get all worked up and leap in the air. He's like 'okay, I'll just keep trotting." Congratulations on finding such a cool horse. |

That would be because its towards the barn! You should see how wobbly he was the other way =) Thanks for the kind words everyone. I had to laugh at his first "jump" too since he put out the minimum effort as usual and was totally unphased. I had hoped that maybe he would actually jump it so we can could have some sort of inkling towards wether he will jump like we want him too but alas, that would have been far too much effort on his part haha! He's so cool and I just love him. I've trotted him over flowers (we have them attached to a pole so they are only like 8 or 10" tall) and he did the same thing-trotted over it like it was a trot pole!
