We were very happy to see the little girlie win today!!!

Can't help but wonder tho, if Mine That Bird would have caught her if it were just a wee bit longer!

She is a pretty impressive filly!

That was a great race. I was cheering for both of them.
Both horses are such opposites (big filly who leads the race, little gelding who comes from behind) that it was very cool to see them so close at the end.

Belmont will be interesting if they both run!

It was a very exciting race!

I couldn't believe it when I saw Calvin ask the filly to move out and got nothing, then he went to his stick. I really thought she was done, but she managed to hang on to the lead. Borel said she was struggling with the footing.

I really think if Mind That Bird would have had a better trip he could have caught her. He's just such a game little guy! Did any of you see the aerial replay? When MTB nears RA in the stretch he looks like a pony compared to her, just so tiny :teehee:

Though it was a great race. I knew when she took the lead at the begining of the race it was hers. I sort of wish she had run in the derby because maybe we would be still in the hunt for a triple crown? Does anyone else think she would make one nice hunter?

I worry about them running her in the Belmont, if they choose to do so.

Wow. I'm just so impressed with Mine That Bird. It's great that a filly won, but to me, MTB is the story. The racing fanatic at our barn keeps saying his win was a fluke: the pace helped him, the track conditions, the jockey, etc. My answer is that EVERY race has those variables. I just wonder if he could've caught RA. He was definitely on his way.

Not sure if you guys watched the KY Oaks (the Derby for the Girls) but this is unbelievably impressive and one reason she ended up in the Preakness!

JIT....I think most people watching/following racing, even if it's just a little bit, are very concerned about the industry/breed as a whole. But one thing I can say for certain, Jess will NOT race Rachel in the Belmont if she is not 110% ready or if he is not 110% comfortable doing so. One of his goals is and has been to get back to stronger, more bone dense, etc. type race horses and his breeding farm in KY reflects just that.

LBB.....save some of that wine!!! The gang will be at Upperville soon!!

GOOD to know!! That is PRECISELY what I am concerned about. Too many flashes of Ruffian for me. They are very similar in type.

I'd be hard pressed to pick between MtB and RA. I like them both for different reasons!!! ;)
