I took some pictures of my friend's Westphalin gelding that she is trying to sell, but I can't decide on which conformation picture to use. So if you all could please look here: http://www.cherryblossomfarm.net/beau.html, and tell me which # picture you prefer, I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

Cutie pie, I like #4, but actually I would almost rather see him from the OTHER side. The jagged white sticking up front creates an optical illusion that on first glance made me think his leg was wonky. It's not, but the jagged-ness caught my eye and made me think that for a second. I don't like #1 and 2 because when he stretches his neck, it lengthens that and causes him to look a bit jug headed in comparison to the thickness of his neck. #3 makes his shoulder look a bit more upright than what I think it actually is. #4 seems to capture him best and in the most flattering way.

And by #5, he's mentally checked out, LOL :)

Normally I like them stood up as Beau is in #1, but in this case I think those shots with his neck stretched, making his throatlatch appear finer, aren't doing his head any favors. (I love his head though.) So in this case I think I'd go with #3, as it seems to present a more proportionate overall picture. JMHO though. :)

Honestly, I think I'd take more pictures.

He looks like he's very cute, but none of these pictures show him off. Like vfx said that left front sock makes his pastern look weird, the camera angle makes his head look enormous, his butt tiny and his his legs look very, very short. Of all of them, I like #5 the best for his body, but he's looking away from the camera.

Take new pics of his right side, have the photographer step further back away from him and shoot from a point midway between his shoulder and hip, and shoot slightly up to prevent the shortened leg/big body syndrome.

In order of preference: #2, #1, (neck looks nice), #3(one with the kindest eye), #5, #4

I agree with others though that I would get some more pictures. I also agree the pics where his neck looks nice his head looks big. Because of that I almost picked #5 as my favorite, but he does look checked out. You might want to move back towards his hind end just a bit, moving around a lot can help you figure out which angle shows off the horse the best.

Is he pregnant by any chance :teehee:

For some reason to me, #1 and #2 seem to make him super heavy in his front end....I didn't see the white thingy on his foot until V pointed it out..but she is correct..it does make his tendon seem :psycho: ....

He is cute..and love the chrome...

I hope he sells super quick!!

HH :)

Probably #4 - but I would take more shots from the other side, and maybe even stand him on a hard surface so you can see the hoof and pastern angle better.
But definitely have the photographer stand back, aim for his ribcage (or halfway between hip and shoulder), and to shoot up a bit. I find the better conformation shots are taken when I am down on one knee.

LOL, that's what I said when I saw him!!!

The grass in northern Virginia is SO nice this year, that if horses are out 24/7 in a 1/2-way decent field, they all are looking like that.

Thanks guys, I'll get together with her and take some more pictures next week. I hadn't noticed the optical illusion-thing going on with his front leg sock until I was looking at the photos last night before posting. It isn't obvious in person when I was there.

Numbers 3 and 4 are my favorites.

She does need to consider feeding him though. :teehee:
