I need a really good cure and fast. I have washed with antibacterial soap and picked scabs. Is it a good idea to put MTG too?

The entire field where my horse lives has it, so it may be a losing battle, but I am determined to get it somewhat under control. These weeks of wet weather have not helped!

Is it ok to put meds and then a fly sheet over rain rot?

Help.

Wash well with Betadine Scrub and let stand for 10 minutes before rinsing. Pick off as many scabs as you can.

Then apply this scab softener

Recipe

1 1/2 oz bottle tincture of iodine
1 16 oz bottle of peroxide
1 16 oz bottle of mineral oil

Combine all ingredients and do not close the lid on container. It will expand and explode.

Apply to all affected areas and leave on over night. Then lather rinse and repeat for weeks.

Rain rot stinks.

50/50 mix of Listerine and baby oil in a spray bottle-- cheap, works great and smells great. Cures rainrot on my guy everytime. Hope it works on yours! :)

There's a product called "Well Horse" - all natural ingredients from the rain forests that will work.. I know it's available at www.uniquelyhorse.com

It was just suggested to me on another board to use Hibiclens. Apparently, it works really well.
