Ok so my BF is Scot on his dads side, but his father passed away when he was very a baby. So he has not embraced that part of his back ground, where I am Scot and it is very important to me. Now I have asked him if he would be up to wearing a kilt (men in kilts rate up there to men in uniform with me, at the top. Let’s just say I melt into a puddle). He is open to it and this from a guy that is in combat boots 5 out of 7 days a week. Now I know he will need to get use to wearing it before I ask too much of him. Like going out in public and so on. I have been surfing the net for all types of info but a little from you guys would help too. So my questions are. 1. Where does your SO or male family member wear their kilts? 2. Does your SO/MFM have more than one kilt for different events/social functions? |

My son is a bagpiper and has quite a collection of kilts. He wears them anywhere and everywhere. And yes, he goes regimental. TMI for a mom. He has a utilikilt that he loves for every day. http://www.utilikilts.com/ He has a feile mor that he wears mostly to Renn faires - it's a PITA to deal with. He has a kilt in the family tartan for every day wear, and a dress one to wear with his Prince Charlie. I have a co-worker who wears one every Friday (dress down day) instead of jeans. Lots of men LOVE to wear them - they are very comfortable, and the girls swoon.

I like the idea of a kilt...I think they can really be eye catching on the right guy, but the Link from MGP ???How is that different from a skirt? I am not being mean, just confused. I would not have thought Kilt if I saw someone wearing one...I would have said look at the dude in a skirt. |

My dad never wore one, but I'm from a very Celtic area of Ontario (both Scot and Irish). The Utili-Kilt never struck me as anything weird! Guys who wear one have to have a very Manly walk to pull it off. I'm guessing if E's BF spends his life in combat boots this won't be an issue... A well worn kilt by a Manly Man has a very special "twitch" to the back when it moves.... mmm.... yummmm..... |

Mine only wore his for his friends' birthday. I did a lot of research before I made them and I have to say they turned out REALLY well. I pleated them with the match (with the plaid), so from a distance it just looks plaid, but when it MOVES you can see the pleats. We even had a Scottsman approach us at the dinner and ask us wherever we found such fantastic kilts in the US! Hubby said it was quite comfy and to complete his ensemble he wore his motorcycle boots (which look like combat boots). I myself think men in kilts are HOT, but I think you have to be a confidant guy to pull it off. Tell him to GO FOR IT!!!! Seems like the perfect opportunity to post my Kiltmen pics! ![]() ![]()

Being 6'4 and 250 lbs, he can't walk anyway but manly. I don't think he could pull off the tight a$$ sissy walk. I would just bust a gut if I ever seen him try, it has me lol just thinking about it.

Cool Kilts! I wore a kilt for 9 years at Catholic school. Jilli, you did a great job on his kilt! The ones we wore were red/green tartain. The pleats are a pain. I remember ironing mine...and they were wool so when it rained it smelled like wet wool in the classrooms! lol. |

Dear Youngest Son is engaged to a woman from Thailand, who is Bhuddist. I have my old MacLaine of Lochbuie kilt in the attic, way too small for me now, but I told him I'd have it made over to him so he can wear it when they get married. Though somehow it might be too hot should they decide to get married in Bangkok! He would wear it very well. |
