FWIW... Tremblant this time of year is very, VERY icy. The lower parts where the bunny hills are get a lot of traffic from people on their way back to the village... it was a wipeout on that hill that made me go out and buy a ski helmet.

If her feet went out from under and she smacked her head on the ice, I can see that it could do a lot of damage. No idea if a helmet would have helped...

Just sending out my prayers for her family. What a terrible accident. :candle:

Makes me kind of freak out too, how many times my 2yo boy has hit his head on things, being a typical 2yo boy. Makes me want to put him in a helmet every day!

When I was a girl, in the 70's we rode all the time without helmets, and the ones we wore were not ASTM approved. To show we wore a cap with no chin strap.

We rode in the back of station wagons, no seatbelts. No bike helmets, no helmets to rollerskate, we survived.

I think this was just a very bad and freak blow she had. Very unlucky. Millions of people ski every year, fall down, and are fine.

It's just so shocking it was on the bunny hill... nobody can believe it.

It's very sad. A similar injury killed my trainer's sister, a jumper rider/trainer. She came off a young horse at a show and the horse kicked her in the face on the way down. She was taken to the hospital, checked out and they told her to see a surgeon about her broken nose on Monday and released her. She went back to the show and schooled her students the next day, then when she got home told her sister she had a headache and was going to lie down for a bit. A little later she woke up in terrible pain, and before they could get her to the hospital she died.

Very sad  , a beautiful and talented lady. I recommend The White Countess for those that haven't seen it (it's on DVD).
