I need a new halter for one of my training horses. I want a cob size padded halter. Any good resources besides Dover?

Oh, I just realized that this should be in the Tack Room forum. I'll put it there too!

Smart Pak has great halters! Their leather ones are very, very nice and I believe they have a padded one (at least they used to).

I love the Dover ones that are really Walsh halters. They are the best quality for the price.

Ugh, I really don't like dealing with Dover :brickwall: Their shipping costs are outrageous.

I did find one at Stateline, free shipping over $49. I will look at the ones on SmartPak.

Thanks!

When you have posted a thread in the wrong location, please just leave it there without cross-posting, and let one of the mod team know. We can move it for you. When there are two threads, my OCD self moves all the posts from one thread to another, which is difficult under the new software. I appreciate your wanting the thread to be in the right location!

Since there were only three posts in the other thread I will summarize them here:

1. Go to Quillin.

I was a die-hard Quillan fan until recently. I donated a horse to the Park Police a few years ago and sent him with a brand new Quillan halter. I usually use these only as show halters, not for daily use.

Stanley came back from the Park Police when they had their budget cut, and after about a year of what was clearly daily use, his halter is pretty hard-worn.

Rudy, on the other hand, came from his breeders with an Albright halter, and I've put it through the wars in the last two years. It looks terrific--cleans up fabulously and has held up great.

It's the Sale and Show Halter listed here.
