She not only looks better but has animation and curiosity in her expression now - like she realizes she is in a place where life is turning out to be pretty good!

During yard time today, she even bucked a few times. Now, instead of calmly walking with me wherever I want, she has started to assert her little donkey self a bit. She knows how to put the brakes on when she thinks I'm taking her back to her pen and when I put my hand on her rump to get her moving and say "walk," she also bucks. So I think Amy is beginning to feel her Equine Senior! :one:

She may get her first set of shots on Tuesday and possibly the okay to start meeting the other donks, depending on what the vet says. That will definitely be picture time!

Thank you ALL for your encouragement and interest. It means a great deal to me!

CDE, thank you, and how ARE you? I think you mentioned somewhere that you're still getting lots of snow...(I somehow thought you were not in an area for LOTS of snow). I know your horses are fully blanketed, but I hope you are keeping poor Archie Moore suitably protected from the elements. He leads a very hard life ya' know!

Amy gives me warm fuzzies when I see her - all it took was some TLC and having her basic needs met to bring out the true "donk".
(go figure!)

Great work to you and hubby!!! I just want to rub my hands on those ears! Do they feel as soft and fuzzy as they look!? <3

ABH, while her ears are quite fuzzy inside (still her foal "coat" if you can call it that) on the outside they are quite rough with many tiny little bumps on them (leftover bug bites from during the summer perhaps?). As she becomes healthier, and grows some new hair, I hope those bumps will disappear. :luck:

So we'll save your ear rubbies for Feather with the "Harry Potter" ears (someone on TOC called them that  ):

Those are lightening bolts in Feathers ears! :teehee:

OTF -- She looks wonderful already! The most striking (and heartwarming) difference to me is her expression. She looks bright and totally relaxed now. In the "before" photos she looks like a sad little donkey, lost in the world.

I'm really glad you are taking your time before introducing her to your herd though OTF, I am sure it's really hard when you know she is lonely but you sure don't need them to catch anything from her.

Feather is without a doubt the prettiest donkey in the world <3 :cloud9: It's uncanny how lovely she is, particularly her eyes :o
