We wormed Little Orphan Amy with Equimax (for 110#) two days ago. This afternoon while I was getting cow buckets ready, Robert said, "Come here, look at this!" And there, in a fresh deposit of donkey poop were about three or four 5-6" long horrible gray worms (dead, thank God). I'm not good with wormy things, as I've said before, but I scooped that pile up immediately and dumped it in the woods, NOT the manure spreader. And thirty minutes later, another deposit with one more of those ghastly things! I'm guessing round worms? I can't wait to worm her again, but I have to wait two weeks. Already she appears to be losing some of that full belly look; could it actually happen that fast? What should I be looking for in the poop piles now? If I see anything moving, I will positively have a stroke. That poor baby! |

Here's a really gross story. Right after I got Weezie the Devil Cat (I think the day after) she walked across me while I was sitting on the couch and I felt something on my arm. She had left a roundworm (I think that was the species) on my arm. I had to scrub my arm with bleach, literally after that. Miss Weezie had gotten dewormed at the shelter and I guess they were still coming out. |

Sorry, Sanny. I know it's positively disgusting (and more are still appearing). This pitiful little baby had never been wormed in her 6 months of life before she got a small dose of Strongid a few weeks ago, so she is long overdue. I didn't expect to see the evidence, so I continue to be grossed out, but also terribly relieved that she is getting rid of these horrors and, hopefully, on the way to health. Each day she becomes more of a "normal" (ha ha, what's that?) donkey, making anticipation noises when it's time for her grain, eating her hay with some gusto, eager to go out in the yard, etc. Onwego, just reading the story of your Weezie's "arm worm" practically sent me for the bleach!
