Well, just to answer a few questions.

Satch is a BLM mustang, came off the Nevada range at about the age of one. Brought to New England area, and at the age of 3 bought by my friend whom is a farrier. The rest of his story will be told in a separate thread, today if I can get it together.

Miss Bri a friend??? How do I answer that... LOL. OK, as Billy Crystal would say, "She's Marvelous". I have never had the pleasure of actually meeting Miss Bri, though we have chatted for a very long time through equine chat boards and she is a far better "pen" than I will ever hope to be for posting stories of heart. Her stories of herself & "Miss Bri" were the kind that left us with warmth many a time. And we all were saddened upon her loss of such a wonderful horse. And because I know she will read this, I will laugh and keep my promise. My two boy's will show up in her yard this spring at some point. And it will be her choice as to which to ride, or ride both.

Mystery is a cross. Suppose to be a Perch/QH, as per what papers I have on him from the PMU auction. His sire I know not of, but could ask from the woman whom held the rescue auction at the time. All I know, is that he is still growing... Already stands over Satch, and he used to fit under Satch's neck. My true friends, whom smiled at me at the auction, I will never forgive ( kidding ), for they knew that HUGE was in store!

I ride with mainly women... Go Figure... LOL. Many are married, or have great BF's. I have great trust and friendship with their spouse's. I treasure that, and will always recognize their families. It is a privilege to spend time with them, and also with their families. We have had some wonderful rides and moments as friends. And I have taken the brunt, of being the lone man for good natured bashing from time to time. And have been embarrassed to no end. But I can say, I understand most of the woman's point of view on most topics... LOL. ( Damn men! ) And men... MIDOL is great!

As much as I tease others, I also tease myself, it's only fair. I love to laugh, I like to smile. And better yet, to make others do the same. We ask for forgiveness on the trails, for we are sort of rough riders by nature, though we are polite. We are western style, with Ye Haws that may not fit into dressage. But if you understand the "East meets West" concept from many a show, such as Equine Affair's Fantasia Show, then you will understand us.

As for trail riding, I have been all over New England with Satch. We have done an all day ride, some 22 miles in Acadia National Park in Maine. I think that was our best ride ever. It was a dream of mine to take him, and hopefully I will do it again with Satch, with his adoptive son at his side.

I have a promise made to Satch, and now including Mystery. Mystery is learning, and will continue for years to come, from one very gifted mustang. And I am humble enough to say that mustang both saved my life and has enriched it every day. I am truly blessed with two wonderful horses. Along with wonderful friends, I have had the time of my life.

Of most importance, I admire all the work folks do have in being equestrians. Their effort and work, the time spent and skills learned. The compassion shown and the wonderful mounts they pair with. I have no such education and will always compliment you. Especially the younger folks. The time spent learning is also a reflection on life. You stick to it, whether in good days or bad. You never lose sight of your goals. And it's not the win that says it all, it all the work and the desire to be better that is important. For one never stops learning. That's a belief of mine.

I once made a quote:
" Knowledge is nice, experience is helpful, but reputation is earned "
That saying was handed down to me. And to this day I try and live by those words. My parents, now gone, were wonderful folks. And I hear those kind words, from them... at certain times still.

I thank you for the kind welcome, it means very much.
Alan, "Satch & Mystery"

Dang it Jill... I did... LOL.
Oh boy, yes spelling is a weakness for me. And two fingered typing makes it even better.
I need a proof reader, want the job? :)

Alan, I love the pictures of Satch and Mystery. They do have the look of true friends about them. They are just beautiful.

Please share more stories as you get the chance. We don't care that you never had "formal" riding lessons, what matters is that you love your horses and you are happy together. I had lessons when I was young (and my DD is taking lessons now), but never had my "own" horse and would love the experience some time. It is never too late. Luckily over the years kind people have let me develop relationships with their horses and I cherish that. Now Sannois from this board, a friend of mine, "lends" us her horse Truman - in fact in my avatar is my DD riding Truman last summer, they get along famously. <3 I am more into the trail riding end of things now as well, my knees do not take kindly to jumping anymore! :P

In any case, please hang out here with us... post anything you want, horsey or not. And please please more pictures of your beautiful friends.

Enter a bit of a "Mystery" to the picture, and you have Satch's adoptive son.
5 months old, 450 lbs from a PMU auction, whom Satch bonded instantly with.

OH my goodness.. what gorgeous boys you have. I LOVE the pic of the Three of you.
Satch looks young and fit. And a joy to tail ride. Thanks for sharing those with us! <3
Oh and spelling?? No worries. I am the queen of typos and spelling mistakes! We are pretty laid back here!
We just enjoy each others company, life is too short to worry over such small stuff~ :)

Alan! I'm late to get here, but want to say that any friend of Miss Bri is a friend of mine!

Your steeds are gorgeous, and I can tell you love and enjoy them and that they reciprocate (ok, spelling police, come and get me...ha ha, you can't).

I also bookmarked your hay feeder, it looks quite workable. Thanks!

As you've probably noticed, everyone is VERY happy to welcome you here. (It's kind of like when I worked in Social Services -- mostly women -- and when a man's footsteps were heard coming down the hall, all work stopped! ).

Anyway, a big hearty bray from the token longears person here!
