Wow...I'm pretty lucky. I don't think I've ever had anything taken. Well, maybe a soda out of the fridge, but that's it. I had a box of Thin Mints on my shelf for almost a year. People would drool, but no on ever touched them. I took them home two weeks ago, froze them and then consumed the whole box in two days. |

Why not put a mouse trap (you don't HAVE to set it, heh heh) on top of your stash and that gives a clear visual signal to leave it be! It worked for me as a great "paperweight" at work many years ago...kept people from pawing through the papers on my desk (other people's work). |

Ha! Tuna Ludes. That person didn't steal Crosby's ludes.... they got them mysteriously delivered. I think if Tuna Ludes show up unannounced on your desk at work, you are entitled to keep them.

I feel your pain- I was just getting ready to eat my dinner on the airplane (I'm a flight attendant) when a passenger asked me for something. I left my zipped-up lunch box sitting on the jumpseat for no more than 2 minutes, and when I came back some freak of a passenger had stolen my food It wasn't even packaged food, it was leftovers in a ziploc bag and raw veggies! I'm stuck on the damn airplane for 14 hours, with no food other than what I bring from home, and some piece of sh!t steals my dinner. I'd try to be nice about it, and say that the person that stole it must need it more than me, but if you can afford to fly across the country you can afford to buy your own damn food! |

What is it with some people? Honestly, Vx's wine story really struck a cord with me. What kind of freak steals wine and leaves the empty?? And an entire box of mojo bars?? The whole thing??? I am the first person, by the way, to shove my fist into your candy dish if you are so foolish to leave one near my (washed with soap frequently ) hands, but that's only because if you leave it out, I assume you want me to eat it! To go through, under, over, around someone's desk to find food is just wrong. And weird.

T that's what happens when the airlines cut food service. Freakin' peanuts aren't going to cut it! I AM KIDDING...that's just super CREEPY if you ask me. You don't get food on your flights for yourself?? I still think of the wine and the tuna ludes too. I'll admit to taking a coke at the barn fridge once, but I left a note and replaced it with a SIX PACK THE NEXT DAY!! I find it odd that people would paw through things as well. Weirdness. The airlines would provide food for passengers long before they provided food for flight crews- they hate us! No, we have to bring food from home, as there is very rarely time to get off the airplane between flights to buy food. The bad part is that we have no refrigeration or microwaves, so we're rather limited as to what we can bring. One of the reasons I stopped doing multi-day trips was that I so got tired of carting around a lunch box full of 4 days worth of meals, plus the ice bags to keep it cold, utensils, bowl, etc. On the plus side, I can now cook an almost-gourmet meal on a coffee pot burner

That's crazy T, I always assumed that a number of the meals would be ordered for the flight crew. I can't believe all of this food and wine thievery. Very sad What is with people these days?

T That's AWFUL! I have a good friend/neighbor who works for Southwest but I've never asked her about taking her food. I just assumed they fed them. Wow.Now I feel badly for bitching about peanuts

It varies by airline- my airline is domestic service only, so no meal service and no ovens, microwaves or fridge. Airlines with international service usually still offer meals (in first class at least) so their larger aircraft, like 767s or 777s still have ovens and such. |

Well Southwest has never offered anything BUT peanuts and cookies/crackers, so it's not like the flight attendant signed up for a food bonanza. I'm about 99% sure that the Southwest flight attendants don't have time to get off the plane either--the whole SWA philosophy is to get the plane back in the air in 28 minutes or less (says jn4jenny, daughter of an SWA pilot).I also wonder about this logic that airlines should feed their employees. Other than the restaurant industry, I can't think of many industries where employers are expected to feed their employees on a regular basis. I think it would be *great* if my office gave me free food, and sometimes I do manage to scrounge some catering leftovers, but I'd never *expect* them to feed me. The theft stories on this thread are unreal. People suck! It makes me grateful to work in an office where people don't steal. |
