... when the friend who hasn't seen your horse in six months watches her typical Rodeo Bronc routine on the lunge and in her new paddock and says "wow, she's turned into quite the firecracker hasn't she..." :innocent:

(considering that the breeder thought she was "too quiet", I think it's an improvement... :teehee: )

LOL! wait till you can put all that athleticism to good use, she will be a knockout. ;)

I was marveling at Win yesterday... bucking, snorting, galloping, spooking, doing his best Arab impression. You would have thought he was a 3 year old colt not a 21 year old gelding who was nearly dead 4 months ago!

Must be spring fever....

They're all feeling good these days! Even the usually super quiet Miss Oprah was playing in the corners in my lesson yesterday! Usually we're working on keeping her going through the turns, so it was quite the amusing event. She's so funny (and perfect) <3

Of course, afterward, she was EXHAUSTED :teehee:

Just remember, it will be over some day. My horse is 95% sweet, but I bought him at 5 and he's now 7 and 1/2. When I tried to teach him last summer to canter without running into the gait--something his previous owner failed to teach him--this incurred a hissy fit of two rears, several bucks, and a general state of pissivity. When my trainer and I re-addressed the issue this past Sunday, he was Mister Cool about the whole thing. It was the difference between saying "EFF YOU LADY" and "I'm sorry, but I simply lack the muscular coordination to do what you're asking. I will make every attempt to do it correctly and will maintain complete composure when you accidentally yank me back into the trot. I appreciate that you're making the attempt to not suck at this and will return the favor by trying not to suck at this myself."

I never thought the day would come. It will come for you too.

Oh I hear ya. As of this week, we don't lunge to the right. We can lunge to the left no problem. We can canter in little circles in turnout while bucking to the right, but lunging? Hell no.
