Yay! That's awesome  I found the first few weeks the worst, just learning how to replace the habit. By not eating :teehee: Good for you :woot:

I just quit last night, smoked my last one at 11:49 pm. I admit it, I want one... but it isn't too bad yet. My mom wanted to me quit so bad, she said at 1 year smoke free she'd by me a new saddle (anything under $1500 dollars). So, there's motivation, if not for my health... I'm gonna post lots of pics of the saddles I want on the wall, and when I want one, I'm gonna go stare at them....

My co-worker quit smoking many years ago. But he still takes the "cig money" he would have used & puts it in a savings instead. He adjusts his amount with the current prices so he stays up to date with what he would have been smoking.

He paid for his honeymoon to Hawaii out of it.

Next he paid for his kitchen remodel.

Good luck to all of you quitting! :cheer:

Hint from someone whose been there done that & quit succssfully.--SHOWER a couple times a day. Nicotine oozes out of your pores (ever been near a hard core smoker? yuk)so drink a ton of water and shower a lot. Helps clean the crap out of your system...and CONGRATS!!-you CAN DO IT!! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Way to go, MGP! And anyone else who is working on this.

I quit 30 years ago and it was the hardest thing I have ever done. I had been smoking up to 2 packs a day, even through my two pregnancies  , and wanted to stick around to see the kids grow up. Cold turkey, but I tested myself after 6 mos or so - tasted good still, but didn't start again. Next time I tempted fate, I :spew:ed

Still dream I have started again and am faced with quitting.

Stick with it! You will be able to smell, taste, breathe again, and you will have such a sense of accomplishment.

Don't be too hard on yourself if you backtrack - know you have gotten so far, and can do it again!!

Congrats and stick with it. You'll be amazed at how much better you will feel in a few weeks. Seriously - that quick. And it's the little things. I no longer have a constant stuffy/runny nose. I actually can taste my food and have discovered that I like foods I always thought were bland. Lo and behold - they're not! (OK, I'll repeat the 'buy gum' statement - that liking how food tastes didn't go so well for my waistline!) I don't stink - even though I never knew I did! But boy can I smell it now - even from a car in front of me. It really is a gross smell....

Congrats MGP and all the others! It is really hard I know. I have never been a smoker but know plenty. One of my good friends is a smoker, and as much as I love her, I have a really hard time being around her at times because she stinks so bad! I feel bad about feeling that way, but I am just really sensitive to the smell. And I can't ride in the car with her because I struggle to breathe when she smokes in the car and quite frankly, I don't want to smell like smoke myself! I adore her, but it really is a blip in our friendship.

I'll pray for y'all! You are doing one of the best things you can do for your health, happiness, finances, and even for your friends!
