"A lot of people don't realize that fish are capable of feeling fear and pain, that they develop relationships with each other, and even show affection by gently rubbing against one another," says Ashley Byrne, PETA's sea kitten campaign co-ordinator. "Knowing that the fish sticks in the school cafeteria are really made out of tortured sea kittens makes most kids want to lose their lunch." I doubt that the non-vegetarian school kids are really having a tough time with the fish sticks but not with the chicken patties and sloppy joes. Personally I had issues with ALL the cafeteria foods.....eeewwww. PETA makes it really hard for the rest of the world who actually have realistic concerns about animal welfare and animals as food sources. |

Oh those crazy PETA folks. Yes they are serious. I saw a clip on it somewhere...Daily Show I think? PETA also compares breeding horses to the slave trade...forcing them (horses) to have sex for the owners' profit. I enjoy my tank full of sea kittens.

They're so freaking weird. What's funny about this is that their headquarters happens to be 20min. down the road from me (lovely ), and it's on a bay. Like, where fish, er, sea kittens, live. And they had to *gasp* kill a lot of the things living in that bay so they could build the building for the headquarters. Ironic, eh? Wish I could find the news article about that, it was quite amusing.
