Well Mr. Win had his teeth done today, and also had his feet xrayed! The very good news, while his LF is really pretty clubby, and clearly he's had very poor foot care....the vet didn't find any indication of anything else going on! No coffin bone rotation!! YAY I was so, so relieved!!! His poor mouth though... Holy Cow! His molars were razor sharp and he had massive ulcers on both sides of his mouth. It's easily been years since he's had his teeth done. The vet commented on how tough he is, and what a good boy to have been doing his job so long without complaining. I'm glad we finally did get rads done, at least we know now for sure, and I will sleep better at night... |

Would you LOOK at that smile?????!!!!!! This is not the nearly dead lame old horse others had given up on. This is the horse he truely is- a very special guy in need of a very special person to liberate him from the ignorence that was slowly killing him, mind body and soul. Flash, don't you think there truely is a reason to everything? |

I know isn't that smile so funny!! I swear he is smiling in all his pics, it is hysterical. You can see the contentment in his face now. He is a different creature than the one that came to me in October. It is like he has breathed this huge sigh of relief, as if he has finally come home.... most days when I go to put his halter on he will nicker as I put it over his head. I've never had a horse do that! It's as if he is saying THANK GOODNESS you found me, finally. I was not looking for him, but it was as if he was always looking for me somehow! After Dan died there were days I could not breathe without physically hurting. It was horrible. I felt like I lost a piece of me and did not know how to get through. And I think when you are enveloped in a tragedy it is so hard to see hope beyond the grief.... but Win has helped me to do that. This horse will live out his days with me, I adore him.

Yay Flash!! That's great news! ![]() Teeth will come around ... your vet will probably just put you on a 4-6 month schedule. My friend picked up an older TB gelding with issues, teeth being one of them. He looked SO much happier after that first float! I can't wait to see him this spring. He's going to look fantastic.

Hey thanks guys!!! I was so thrilled that his xrays were ok. I was terrified of doing them mainly because I didn't want to know what was in there! Witchy he should most definitely be ridable, maybe this spring? He has about 1/2 foot of regrowth, which looks thicker and more correct than the shelly, crappy stuff at the bottom of his hoof. So a few more months and a few more trims and we'll see how he goes. I am itching to ride, going to the doc this week to see when I am allowed to start again! I will admit to having sat on him once, in December, on a day when he was looking relatively sound.... He is very much my kind of horse under saddle!! Edited by FlashGordon, Jan 25 2009, 08:56 AM.

WOW. That is a completely different horse than the one you posted way back when! His new-found joy is just shouting from those pictures. How rewarding--for both of you! I can't wait to see him all shed out and fat and slick. |
