Hey everyone - I just wanted to post a video of my 18 month old Westporte Gelding, Eisenheim. I turned him out in the indoor for a good run after being couped up so often in this terrible weather and took some video of him. He does do some trotting about a minute in and please don't mind the terrible videoing, as it was hard to chase and look at what I was doing! Oh and make sure you watch in HD otherwise it is REALLY terrible!!!

http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=NVLRSEV-0pYEisenheim

Let's see some more video's of other people's youngsters!!!

I don't have any current video of my boy--will wait until spring. But it is amazing how much all the WEstporte's look the same! Of course, you go the bay that I wanted! Mine if about 9-10 months--chestnut.

Do y'alls teddy babies get Really Freakin Hairy?

Mine is such a YAK. Her and the other Westporte she's with are the two hairiest horses for miles around from October-March. I keep telling them, this is TEXAS. Just cuz daddy is Canadian doesn't mean they need a winter coat worthy of a polar bear.

My '06 filly barely has any coat at all and she lives outside with just a rain sheet on. Her mom never grew a crazy coat though in the winter

Yes I prayed for a bay colt my mares whole pregnancy LadyBug!!! But I think I would have been happy no matter what colour/sex - plus I've seen pics of your guy and he is GORGEOUS!!! I have been so thrilled with my Teddy baby, as I am sure so many others are with theirs!
My guy was SUPER hairy as a yearling...I was a little concerned thinking I would need to clip him like 3 times a year if he kept that up! But this year his coat was much better. And he only wears a light winter blanket - so its not like I have him wrapped up in a sauna under the lamps all day!!! lol I think the first year their coats are heavier to protect them better as babies.

He looks great LH - and very playful!!! Eisenheim looked just NASTY his first winter, but then he blossomed into a beautiful swan - thank goodness!!! I love how they all have Teddy's soft expression and wide set eyes.

My 12 month old Teddy baby is the least hairy of the yearlings. But her mom doesn't grow much of a coat either. Now my Zarr 8 month old looks like a wooly mammoth! :teehee:

ok well i said no pics til spring but i lied. they're so fuzzy and gross it's embarassing but oh well. ;)

Sadie, in all her fuzzbucket glory. She hasn't really gotten any taller over the winter but she's getting a bit longer and thicker. Head is still ginorm but at least the rest is starting to catch up. FYI my friend holding her is 5'11".. Sadie's not a total midget.

And her "brother" (same sire) Weston's first ride ever was today. He didn't bat an eye. My friend owns this one, and he too is an embarrasing fuzzbucket. He'll be 3 in April.

Eisenheim is lovely, Danielle!

lhunterl, don't feel bad, my Westporte filly is a yak right now too! Maybe the fillies grow more hair than the colts? ;) I love her anyway, Westporte babies are the best!!

lhunter & kovy - your babies are gorgeous! They both look more proportioned than Eisenheim at that age. And I love your filly's matching socks kovy! I just love Teddy babies - I swear they all have hearts of saints. My BO always jokes that Eisenheim was born broke. He is coming two this year and is practicing taking walks with a saddle and gives my 3 year old neice pony rides :) He doesn't even bat and eye, he loves having a job! I will post a pic of him giving his pony rides soon.
