I am in the process of trying to sell a saddle online. I have been approached by some obviously reputable and interested parties as well as some blatant fradualant ones as well. My dh's business is primarily internet based so he has a lot of dealings with Paypal and warned me NOT to accept any payment unless the address was verified because of chargebacks. This morning, someone wanted to buy the saddle, said they were a Paypal member but when I saw they were not verified, I asked for payment via cashiers check, m.o., or check (which I told them would have to clear before the saddle would be sent.) I have not heard back from them. Has anyone been robbed this way? Or am I being too careful?

I would tell them they have to get "verified" before you can accept their paypal.

I second that suggestion...

IF they are FOR REAL they'll do it right away....IT will ONLY help them in the future..

IF NOT...DON'T send it...it's YOUR saddle...just remember that...

THEY BUY IT on YOUR TERMS.....PERIOD!!!!

Good Luck

HH :)

Getting verified is no big deal. I don't know why people don't just do it if they are going to use PayPal from time to time. I wouldn't sell or ship to an unverified person because if you do, you get NO PayPal protection. Either they get verified or they send you a money order. End of story.

Good, I am glad it wasn't just me. My husband has dealt with way too much fraud so I am glad I was forewarned otherwise I am afraid I would not have been so saavy. Well, at least that one won't be getting my nice saddle for free!

I second that. I did it when I first signed up for PayPal. Can't remember exactly what you have to do, but it's not a big deal, and takes a few minutes. So, if someone comes to you that's not verified, just ask them to get verified and that's that
