I have decided that there is just way too much "stuff" in my house!!! I'm tired of picking up, tripping over and just looking at the stuff! I have been the Ebay queen in the past and am really surprised what people buy but what I have no luck with are little girls fancy dresses on ebay. There must be a market for them somewhere - does anyone know where I can sell these things that are taking up tons of room in my closets? These would be great Flower Girl Dresses, Pageant Dresses, Easter Dresses, sister dresses (most of them I have in 2 sizes!). Many of the are brand new too. I have a relative that buys my kids REALLY nice dresses for special occasions (like $100 Jessica McClintock/big tulle dresses) and I must have 15 of them! We are "farm kinda people" that don't dress up too often - and our idea of dressing up certainly is not a white tulle dress on a 3 year old!!! I have sizes 3T-6X, and I'm sure there are more on the way come summer! Any help would be apprecited! |

I know you said you tried ebay and I agree that they might be tough to sell on there unless they are by trendy designers, but with Easter coming and people gearing up for summer weddings...you might try again in February when the spring stuff starts going like hotcakes. Other than that, maybe a local consignment shop? |

I say consignment shop or price them very low on ebay. People are looking for SERIOUS deals right now and are not buying unless they can basically steal it. I have listed things on ebay recently way, way below market value that would have sold in a minute a year ago that have not budged. |

The whole idea makes me shudder, but I bet if you asked on a discussion board about children's pageants, they would know where such things can be sold to serious buyers. I Googled and found this frightening link: http://americasgorgeousgirls.net/plinks.htm |

I buy fancy dresses on ebay for dressup and Halloween, and I have to say, I won't pay a penny over $15 for anything. I don't care what the designer is - I'm essentially buying stuff that is going to get Play-dough all over it. My daughter is currently in "ballet" mode, so she wears ballet outfits everywhere. Yogurt, juice, cheese, that stuff seriously compromises all fabrics. So, I can't be of much help, other than to give you some insight into the ebay BUYER mindset. I would also second a nice consignment shop - although that only works if you have one in your area. We used to live in a nice area of NJ and there were several "upscale" consignment shops. And there is another I frequent near where my parents have a house in Myrtle Beach. |
