It helps a lot to either volunteer for a cause that you feel so deeply about that you don't care whether the recipients (or fellow volunteers) show gratitude, so if there's something really super meaningful to you, volunteer for that.
I forgot to say, you're right about that.

I guess I'll continue to do my part for Vets - that's what's really dear to my heart.

Time to call the Ladies' Auxiliary and let them know I want to get more involved this year!
mmm lol be very careful when telling the ladies aux this you may just find yourself in line to become district president in a few yrs... Im in line for this in bout 5 yrs...

If only I could make it to mid winter today and tomorrow.. not that far away but when on fumes and kid has to get to school... No way going ot convention this summer it is on the other side / end of the state and I have way to much on the plate to get there for more then a day or so... Just not worth the gas to get there for that...

But I do find that you are right Veterans seem to be the ones who really appicerate what you do or them; Others or rather some others honestly give the attitude 'why should I be thankful for you taking time from your day to halep me what I shold get this to begin with.."

Im going ot PM you I have a question to ask... an Aux question...

In our family we have tried to give what we could of our time, money, goods, not that we're any more special than anyone else, but I'm heartened to hear a new call to service. Helping our neighbors, in many ways, is what being in this country together is all about. I don't like an attitude of entitlement any more than anyone else, but to me helping someone is still worth it.

We recycle what we can. I give clothes and housewares to thift shops or put them on Freecycle. Love Freecycle! <3 I even often shop at Goodwill and/or secondhand shops, both to save money and "recycle" clothes. Yes I buy some things new as well.

Hubby volunteers coaching our daughter's basketball team, and helping the boys' team.

And our DD volunteers at the local therapeutic riding center. She <3 that. Gets her horse fix every time too. ;)
