It appears that one of Obama's appointees is a Animal Rights extrememist.. PETA supporter etc. For me, since I do foxhunt and ride horses, this is not exactly my bag. I was surprised to read this on a Foxhunting board lately.

Mr. Martosko said: "Cass Sunstein owes Americans an honest appraisal of his animal rights agenda as America’s top regulator. Americans don’t realize that the next four years could be full of bizarre initiatives plucked from the wildest dreams of the animal-rights fringe. Think about every outrageous idea PETA and the Humane Society of the United States have ever had, and imagine them all having the force of federal law. This doesn’t look good for hunters, ranchers, restaurateurs, biomedical researchers, or ordinary pet owners."

Did Obama really mean to do this? Is this true?

Unfortunately many people believe Animal Rights = Animal Welfare to the 10th degree... they don't understand that some Animal Rights extremists will harm animals in order to get a point across like the wackos in England who maimed horses at a hunt in order to save the fox... :psycho:

I would have thought, since Obama genuinely appears to be doing his homework on everything... that he would have been more careful than to appoint someone with this background. Kind of scary to me. I hope it's not true.

I think the group making the claims is as off the wall as PETA. Probably the guy won't be able to pass any bizarre initiatives with our systems.. but it makes me kind of shutter to think one of the PETA whackos is anywhere near the white house or government.

Maybe I am over reacting here...

I am sure we are in for a lot more changes.... both good and bad with this new govt. I hope it's more good than bad.

Keeping my fingers crossed.
