I replaced my little nokia today for a nice Pantech PDA and I'm thinking about putting a new ringtone on it for kicks. How the hell do I do that and where is the best place?? My service is with AT&T but the selection i saw from them sort of stunk for us oldsters who groove to something other then Kayne and Rihanna.

Assistance from the more technically advanced please!!

How about a nice long bray for a ringtone? :teehee:
(not from the technically advanced, obviously)

Why did I know that you'd respond that way, OTF!

It would actually be pretty funny...except perhaps if you forgot to turn it off in the theater. :innocent:

I have the theme from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I had to pay for them, I have a fair few of them.

I don't mind paying for them, but I don't want to join a "club". I guess I just shop for individual tones?? Any hints, Seal??

I signed up for some free ones, then sent them to my phone but they didn't make it through. I guess I need to check with my carrier to see if I can get them. I found some great ones too! :lonely:

THanks for the link, Desilu. :)

Do you have a cord to plug your phone into your computer? If you do, then you can probably just go to one of the many downloadable ringtone sites, download ringtones & save to your computer, then transfer to your phone. I have a Blackberry Pearl and that's what I do.

The makeownringtone.com is great, I use it now. I just take one of my mp3's, upload it to that site, chose whatever section I want, and save it & download to my phone.

http://www.mobile41.com/
http://gallery.mobile9.com/
http://www.tuneusin.com/

Those are the 3 free sites I've used before with no issues, or having to sign up.

While I can't personally help you, mr. tarragon is pretty clever and has made several for me. Like my message alert tone is this- http://www.musicofnature.com/songsofinsects/iframes/fieldcrickets/popup_grylpenn.html

As a silly aside, my normal ringtone is galloping hoofbeats. I had my phone sitting on one of the trunks in the front of the barn one day and when it rang, my trainer's mother ran out into the driveway yelling "Loose Horse! Loose Horse"!

myxer.com is a great website. iTunes also carries ringtones, and they're 99 cents in comparison to AT&T's $2.49. However, free is always better!

desilu- do you know if when you download a ringtone to your phone, do you then need to connect to the internet for it to open? Because I don't have a cable to connect my phone to my computer, and for some reason the internet isn't working on my phone (even though I set it up this morning so it would :argh: ).

That's great, Tarragon! I love the cricket. I wish the Kiltman were so clever. I found some Midi Rush that's pretty funny. I would love to put one on his phone. :teehee:
