Specifically riding underwear. Has anyone here tried the "coolmax" under pants??? May I get your opinion? They are a bit pricey but if they do help I might be interested in getting some. Lately when I have been riding the leg band on my underwear, has rubbed blisters into a very sensitive area. If I ride in "pant slimming undergarments" I feel they are too thin, but they do not rub in the wrong places, but the stuff that keeps them in place on your leg is annoying when you ride. Are riding underwear "thick"? I don't want to look like I am wearing diapers either. Someone suggested bike shorts but I think they would be too thick. Thoughts and opinions. Thanks |

Casey -- I have the exact same problem with the leg band. MOST uncomfortable. I just bought boy-short style undies, hoping that the leg band might hit somewhere other than the tender bits, but I haven't ridden in them yet. I have tried cotton above-the-knee exercise tights, which worked pretty well. Same concept as the pant slimming undergarments, but a bit thicker. But those are kind of hot for summer. Some people swear by thongs, but I just. can't. wear. thongs. I feel like I have a perpetual wedgie. |

I am too old for thongs! I agree about the perpetual "wedgie" thought too. I wouldn't want to add a sore somewhere else either. My experience with the 'boy short' style is they bunch up. I hope you have more success. I had not thought of exercise tights. Something to look at. My other "issue" is I go straight from work to ride during the week and I don't want to make a "complete" wardrobe change if you get my drift. I don't remember having these issues when I was younger. I have to say I kept telling myself if I lost the weight I put on that I don't like, (about 10 pounds) it would get better. However I am not sure those pesky pounds are going anywhere. |

I have had great success with the Barely There collection. They are super comfy, dont ride up, dont rub, and arent thick. I am an avid thong wearer (TMI I know) with daily clothes as well as riding. I bought a few of these after I had surgery and now I really dont want to wear anything else. They also leave almost no pantie line. |

http://www.hanes.com/Hanes/Products/Women-Hanes/Women_ShopByCategory-Hanes/Women_Panties-Hanes/Women_Panties_BoyShorts-Hanes/21342.aspx I CANNOT recommend these enough! They are SO comfy, wedgie-free, and are long enough that they don't rub while riding AND you don't see the line. Fabulous. However, you have to get that /\ particular kind. Hanes makes different levels of the "boy short", as you can see from their website - http://www.hanes.com/Hanes/Categories/Women-Hanes/Women_ShopByCategory-Hanes/Women_Panties-Hanes/Women_Panties_BoyShorts-Hanes.aspx - and some are not so good. |

I found the micro-fiber/wicking ones from the outdoor sports shop stay put the best - they're design for lots of moving around, and all the edges are bound/soft... http://www.mec.ca/Products/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524442621150&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302883193&bmUID=1232469919488 |

I considered going commando in some schooling jods I bought....they felt ok before I rode but they have a seam right through the middle of the crotch...and I got scared...... So I donned my old Hanes cotton undies for riding.....but maybe someday I'll be brave enough to try. I'm sure [as with all things] it depends on the brand.....:)

My grandmother's words haunt my mind... "Don't leave the house without a clean pair of undies on, you never know what might happen :-)" I think it depends on the breeches... TS and GP don't seem to lend to commando. Talk about chaffing! |

While I don't go commando, I do wear a thong and have no problem from the tight to the baggy breeches. Well, that's not true. I did have quite the problem when I realized the middle rear seam split on my schooling breeches. The worst part? I didn't realize it until the second time I wore them. I heard the rip the first day but coudn't find a hole. Well, I found the hole the next time I wore them. Even worse was that I was then photographed from behind while I got on the 2.5 year old for the first time. I had duck-taped the hole closed...so it looks like I've got a load of something in my baggy pants. I still swear that if you can feel a thong, you're wearing the wrong kind. The 'string' portion should be thin...think G-string and you won't feel a thing. Thicker and it feels like a perpetual wedgie. |
