Tarragon - BH2 called "Sully" today. He confirmed before retiring early ;) he'll do his last flights just for her. Boston to St Thomas, and back.

If we do have to "ditch it," at least we'll have the right guy driving :cheer:

So, sorry. Plan on coming with us next year!

Tarragon, that photo has to be St. Thomas, right? St. John doesn't have an airport. ;)

And, kudos to you flight professionals. I fly a lot with my (very well behaved children :teehee: ) and I am always treated with courtesy and respect by the flight staff. I don't often think of it, but will more, that these are the folks who are trained to save my life in an emergency.

It's Maho Beach on St. Martin- are there 2 Mahos?

Princess Juliana International Airport's approach path is right over the beach- the planes pass right over your head so low it looks like you could reach up and touch them, and there's a great little beach bar right there. Mr tarragon was in heaven- he could have stayed there forever and was trying to figure out which little Caribbean airline he could fly for so we could move there.

I pointed out that there are no dressage barns, dressage trainers or dressage shows on St. Martin, and that we would miss him.

BH2, don't read this! :teehee: :teehee:

Tarragon- http://www.maho.org is where we're (BH1 and BH2) going - now for the 3rd time.
I have heard of Maho Beach, but never looked it up. I sailed into St Martin, never flew. THANK GOD!

The worst airport (other than bush landings) I have ever experienced was St Barts.
St Martin is WAAAAAY worse! :jaw: :jaw:

You know, I was going to ASK if that was on St. Martin and not in the USVirgins! I've not been there, but I have seen other photos. Being in the water is a good idea. :o

An attorney at my firm also was on the plane. He was way in the back, which filled up with water up to his neck VERY quickly. He didn't realize that it was because the pilot had pulled the nose up on impact so that they'd be able to get the front door open, and that the front of the plane was dry, so he thought the whole plane was filling up and that they would drown. How unbelievably terrifying. But he said that there wasn't really time for despair to set in, b/c the crew did such a good job of getting everyone out quickly. He was astonished to suddenly be moving forward through the plane and then out and onto a raft. Truly a miracle.
