I have been cleaning out my closet and I came across my dear old friends bridle & show halter. She has been deceased for a few years now and I have been hanging on to these tack items just for sentimental reasons. They are doing nothing but collecting dust! I cannot throw them away. The halter is nothing special but the bridle is relatively nice, old Harry Dabbs. I have a schooling bridle for my filly already in addition to her show bridle so I have no pressing need to use Key's old stuff on my filly. What do other people do with your really special horses old things?

I have a blingy browband I showed Fox in. I've put it away, and eventually intend to do a shadowbox with her photo, ribbons, the browband etc...

It it were a full bridle, and not just the browband, I'd likely get an interesting hook and hang it as decoration.

My mother put together a shadow box with some ribbons and photos of a horse I leased, In Agottadavida, when I moved on. Instead of putting his whole show halter in, she took the nameplate off, and that became the centerpiece.

For my beloved John's halter after he died, I bought a good brass bridle bracket. I've been meaning to find a good place to hang it, but just haven't gotten around to it yet. I know that when I do hang it, it'll be next to his portrait and stall plate.

I hang on to each horse's show halter and dress sheet. The dress sheets are scattered about here and there - two on a blanket rack with a couple special awards coolers, one folded in front of the fireplace, another on the bakers rack (see pic). I have this giant baker's rack where I hang special ribbons, put special awards, photos, and hang past horses' halters. Please excuse how messy it looks in this pic - I had been going through some things and had put a couple things there until I found a new home for them. Also, its a little overloaded, but I had been waiting to get enough stuff to do something else, and I think I'm going to do something similar upstairs in the media room now that I have enough stuff.

The dress sheets stuffed in the bottom don't live there. I just quickly snapped this picture a couple years ago to show someone. 95% of the time I keep it really neat!

Hmm. Mystic never really had his own special halter. His bridle was a lovely New Cavalry, and I have used it on other horses since then. I plan to continue using it on Rudy, when/if he ever makes it to a show.

Strangely enough, the only intact show halter I have is for my witch mare that I wound up donating to Leesburg. She had a dainty little head, so it's a cob, and it rarely gets used. It seems like every time I put a horse's name on a piece of tack or a blanket, some career-ending injury occurs. :brickwall:

I have a coffee table that is a giant shadow box, and inside I have all my special ribbons, plus leather halters from my first horse & my large pony. I also have all of my name-plate bracelets in there.
One day, when I have a guest bedroom, I plan on using the one championship cooler I have as decoration.
