My friend got married this weekend, she and her husband are from Philadelphia. The theme for their wedding was "Love," the Robert Indiana sculture in Love Park in Philadelphia. Everything from the invitations to the table placards was Philadelphia themed... including this AMAZING cake from Ace of Cakes...

Everythin about it was Philly, Philly, Philly. The couple met at the bar at the Four Seasons hotel, so the theme was Philadelphia in all four seasons (her husband proposed there a year after they met)...

Bride and Groom on the Love sculpture

Some of their favorite places to eat, Rodin's thinker, the Rocky statute, plus the Union Leauge, the site of the wedding, in the winter

A mummer, boathouse row, the Paper Clip sculpture

Posted Image
William Penn, the Liberty Bell, her family's business

All along the sides, famous Philadelphia places shown in different seasons

Even a cheesesteak on ebidle candy tinfoil

Too cool!!!

It's the same stuff they use for Indian candies, I think. It's a very very thin layer of metallic adhered to something else (or else metallic paint sprayed on), I am assuming marzipan. I don't think you are supposed to eat a case of it, but you can eat a little tidbit like that.

I don't know who delivered the cake! Sorry... there were a LOT of photogs there... so I am hoping that means the cake will be on TV. It really was a stunning, one-of-a-kind cake!!!

I love Ace of Cakes. And Duff. He cracks me up.

Our housemates were conteplating having them do a beagle-cake in the likeness of their beagle for their anniversary last year and apparently the cakes from Charm City start at $1K.
Needless to say, there was no beagle cake. Probably for the best...I'm not sure I could have eaten cake that looked like Sophie...
