Just put a call into the vet... Although he seems to be over the tummy ache he is still lethargic and off his feed/hay. Will have some blood drawn to make sure he doesn't have anything else going on that the colic symptoms were masking... Please keep on jingling ![]()

Well, we are not out of the woods yet. He was a little more perky when I fed tonight... actually did his usual "race mommy to the barn" for his feed (at a trot)... but he picked at his morning hay aaalllllllll day when he usually gobbles it down... so I put his evening hay right on top of it... hopefully he will clean it up a bit better by morning... Also the vet will be coming back out tomorrow to take more blood and leave some antibiotics just in case the tests come back with low WBC counts again... Hate this especially since he lives out 24/7 with a run in (never has tolerated being stalled, except at shows... go figure), and the temps are supposed to drop dramatically in the next few days... |

What a drag Copper. I hope you get it figured out soon and get him healthy again. What about soaking some alfalfa cubes in warm water and seeing if he will eat those? Just a few to start (with the vet's ok). I let them soak for at least 30 minutes. It'll keep getting some water/food into his belly as well as the high calcium level acts like giant tums. The other thing I believe strongly in for tummies are carrots. Chaz gets about 3 pounds a day or more. Once when Chaz went off his feed he had a cracked tooth. Luckily it was a small chunk that was easily removed with a tug from the vet. Is it possible that it has something to do with his teeth or mouth? Lots of coming your way from the frozen north.
