This is a picture of Lebo taken at Gladstone about 4 to 5 weeks before he became sick. It was one of a series of photos we had taken for a painted portrait of him that was planned.

Lebo, my pride and joy..

OMG I loved Lebo and Taxi. I was at Malloy's when you were at Sunnyfield. Vivi and Sandy if I remember were the same age. I always like the girls. They seemed very nice.

...oh my god... home of Frogs, and Jane... :jaw: :jaw: :jaw: :jaw: :jaw:
Late 70s, maybe 81, 82?
BH2 was at Sunnyfield during Karen's reign of winning everything ;) .
I think she was at FCHC when Sandy was a junior (forgive me if I'm wrong, BH2 - its my age y'know - and the pre-Maho mind-mellowing stage).
I don't remember Vivi finishing out her junior years, just ponies. Am I wrong?? I recall Debbie, and a brother - or am I hallucinating?

No, Vivi finished out her junior years at Hunterdon (I was a junior there too). Harvard Square was her large junion, and Wallflower was her equitation horse.

BH2 -- beautiful photo of Lebo. He was the coolest. I remember watching him win a junior jumper class with Jerry, and then go right back into the same ring with Sandy to win an equitation class about an hour later.

Now that you mention it, this sounds familiar. Such a long time ago :teehee:

I started at Sunnyfield during Sandy's last jr. year. She had Lebo, Master Dan, and Taxi and Left Bank for the jr. jumpers.

Yes Vivi did finish if you want to call it that. She had two junior jumpers too, Applecore and Reilly. Reilly went on to Jenno Topping before breaking his foot if I remember correctly. Applecore stayed at Edition, Mark Malloy (brother) rode him for one year. Then Alice Debany was going to show him but he got sick and had to be put down. I think it was EPM but I don't think they knew it at the time. He was my special buddy.

I say "if you want to call it that" because she really got screwed (can I say that?) her last few shows. Harvey (Harvard Square) came up lame at Harrisburg and Washington (he was in Hunterdon's care not mine), the only two shows he qualified at. Applecore and Reily missed the money cut for Washington by less than $10, and in equitation she got the royal shaft at the regionals. She had a GREAT trip, "Flower" hesitated on the take off at one jump (not a miss just a stick) and she did not make the call back even for the flat. Marion Hulick asked the judges WTF after it was over, they said "we expected Vivi to win and we were not allowing her one mistake". Nice! She did go to USET and have a good show (top 4) and she went to Harrisburg. Funny I don't remember that round. I think Vivi was pretty defeated by then.

I stayed at Edition for one year after Vivi moved on, but Mrs Malloy changed to race horses and I wanted to stay with the show horses. Debbie had returned from Austrailia, and I was supposed to go to VA with her and the horses, but less money, no riding, no housing... so I moved on. I loved working out there!

I know! . . . I had to think about it for a while b/f I could remember the names of her horses. I had forgotten about the jumpers until I saw Casey's post. Boy, this is making me feel old . . .
