I think I recall that at some point here or on COTH, one of you said that you worked for the Nielsen's at Sunnyfield in the 80's?? If yes, let me know. I have some news from Sandy.

Taxi was so cool. He was like a little rubber ball, and he was FAST! Now he's over the bridge grazing with that other best boy, Leabo. :cloud9:

He was retired at 19, 100% sound. Lebo was the same age, but died at 19. :,( Taxi had the 20 years of wonderful retirement that Lebo did not get to enjoy.... :,(

I remember when Lebo died, right after Karen was done her junior years. That seemed so unfair for such an accomplished horse. Didn't he have an anaphylactic reaction or something?

No, cancer... Everywhere. He carried on a long time sick and we never knew it. He became symptomatic only 48 hours after returning from NY after Karen's last Maclay Final. Only a month before, he had jumped 5 tough rounds at Gladstone on a warm day on the final day of the USET finals. Seemed fine. Spooky isn't it? It does make one wonder..... He was truly THE finest horse I ever had the pleasure of caring for. He was one in a million and cherished by all that loved him.
