I took these recently (12/31/08)... Some of you who have shown at Culpeper, VA's Commonwealth Park may recognise the first church... it was built in 1908... a beautiful and rustic structure... sadly abandoned... ![]() ![]() ![]() This Gothic inspired church is awe inspiring... My son saw the photo and said "that's a cool castle" ... ![]() ![]() And this pretty Episcopal church is located in the same town (Rapidan, VA) as the one above... ![]() |

Great photos, Copper Leaf! Everytime I drive by that old church near Culpeper, I think of what it must have looked like in its heyday! What a shame it's just sitting there doing nothing now. Your first photo of the Gothic-inspired church is beautifully done, great sky, nice framing with the branches. I vaguely recall the Rapidan buildings. Our farm was very near there when I was a kid. Haven't actually driven through Rapidan in eons. |

Very nice photos! I have to agree with your son , I love the white church! I think it would be neat to buy that old abandoned church and turn it into a home. edited for spelling Edited by zbar, Jan 6 2009, 06:49 PM.

Thanks guys... There are a couple more that I wanted to snap some shots of, but it was a frigid day and my fingers were getting numb... I'm going to wait for more pleasant weather before I go out there again
