Holy Tom.... Agree with Jilli there. That Just is incredible but looks ANYTHING but smooth! The person riding him looks like an incredible and skilled rider and in some of those places he looks like he is having troubles staying on!

This video was just from 2006... When did he die? Does any of his foals carry on that talent? That flatwork just looks super smooth and lovely.

If I thought I could get a great dressage horse from Popeye K I would breed to him in a heartbeat! I am a sucker for the bling!

I am thinking about a newly licensed KWPN Gelders stallion named Alexandro P or the DHH stallion Harmonie for my Flemmingh x Rubenstein filly next year.

CDE I LOVE the Gelderlanders!!! Will the primary purpose for proposed offspring be driving???

I love the modern type WB's for the most part, but there's something about the "true type" WB's that really appeals to me.

Popeye is 1 of my favorite stallions.......when I first met him in person as a 3 year old I was hooked.....then after having 2 wonderful offspring by him I just feel in love with him even more....... <3 I have another Popeye baby on it's way early May.

My heart still skips a beat when I see pictures or video of Voltaire and Alla Czar....... :cloud9:

Jaci, I love the Gelderlanders as well. I would be breeding for a driving horse primarily, but it would need to excel at dressage to do well at CDE's. My filly is about 1/8 Gelders through her Mother (Vosmaer). My little princess Lola is 16.2 at two and shows no signs of being ready to start filling out yet! I have considered a Section A Welsh for her to get a manageable sized beast! :teehee:

Some dressage breeders are crossing in the DHH to get the sharp hocks.

I'm not a TB person, the old style WB's are really my "thing". Both my boys, Apollo and Harras, are the older type. There is certainly no lack of power and "go" with either of them!

I want a Don Alfredo out of my filly who is currently only a long yearling. Hope he is still breeding in a couple of years.
I love Don Alfredo. If I were ever to breed for a hunter I'd have to have a foal out of him. I used to see Cindy hunting him with Belle Mead and he is such a puppy dog. Plus all of his foals I've seen are so typey and have a ton of presence.

Redwine is gorgeous and I love his breeding. If I decide to breed my mare again it's a toss-up between him and the Idocus son Olivier.

Do any of you California people know Hofnar? There's a KWPN mare in my barn by him that is the best moving horse I think I've ever seen- unless it's her son. I've seen one other horse by him that was almost as fancy as the mare. I think Hofnar was sold to the U.S. and is standing in California now, but I can't believe I haven't heard anything out of him if the rest of his offspring are even half as nice as the two I've seen.

I'm a HUGE fan of the old style WB's myself, CDE.

I'm also a TB girl. Love a good TB, but most of today's WB's (although BEAUTIFUL) have lost their WB roots, phenotypically speaking. ;)

Okay, back to your regularly scheduled program! PS, I had NO idea you had a filly or that she was such a monster size!! Holy heck. :o

Jillin - I have a 2 year old colt by Tycoon that is a dream! I spend way too much time watching him in the pasture as he is an incredible mover.

Popeye K is one of my favorites . . . we have a weanling by him and another one coming next spring. I have to say that I am really, really looking forward to my Empire's Power foal next spring, too.

Who do you have in foal to Power? I just love his foals.

I want a Don Alfredo out of my filly who is currently only a long yearling. Hope he is still breeding in a couple of years.
I have a 11.2 grey shetland/welsh cross in foal to Empire's Power. We bought her for my granddaughter and decided to breed her this year after we realized that along with her wonderful temperament, she was a pretty nice pony! I am really psyched about this foal and Patti was amazing to deal with . . . would recommend her to anyone!

Ladybug - is that your palomino filly? I want to breed my pali to Don Alfredo also. She is two in Jan.

I love Popeye - have been very impressed with my two Popeye foals this year and am eagerly waiting for 2 more in '09

Redwine is very impressive in person also.
Yes, the palomino yearling. She is going to be much nicer than her own dam. Taller, better mover, the most interesting bold personality. I love the leggy look and the movement of the DA's.

I previously had a less then positive attitude about Cunningham but seeing him at the Old NA inspection in August really changed my mind. Lovely stallion!

I found this info, if it's the same stallion:
Click to see Hofnar before import. This link says: frozen semen available from Full Circle Farm of Fallbrook, Ca

One of his babies - with farm info for Hofnar. This link says he is (maybe was) standing at Fairwind Farm in California.
