I got the results back for Luna's thyroid test and the vet said they are 1.5 which is "low/normal". He left a message so I haven't had a chance to taljk to him and tomorrow is Saturday...and there's NO WAY he'll have time to talk to me then. Anyone know how low this really is? |

J, If IIRC Aly tested the same. I wish I still had the lab paperwork but I swear, Aly tested same. My vet did not think any treatment was necessary but that doesn't mean another vet might think it a good idea. Hoping Luna toons is still ok ![]() -JTN |

I assume there is a reason why you tested her??? If I test a horse for xxxxx reason and the horse is border line, I will give one scoop to get the levels within the "normal" range and see if it makes a difference for the reason why I was testing the horse in the first place. Then after the horse has been on it for a few weeks I would re-test to make sure it is within normal now. And test again a few times a year. Good luck talking about it with your vet. |

A little late...but normals vary slightly depending on which lab used but generally, T4 normals are 1.0-3.0 in horses. Best wishes!! |

I was having her tested because she's such an airfern and stays relatively round despite work and diet. I also suspected that she might have EPSM, like her dam as she started to display some of th same symptoms. The vets take was that it was within normal limits, and that I could either put her on Thyro-L to regulate or wait and re-test in a few months. I opted for the latter. ![]() Since changing her diet to the EPSM diet (the reason I had her thyroid tested, a jumping off point) she has actually slimmed down a bit. Go figure. I know that EPSM can cause the tryroid to be low, so I wanted to see where we were at. Thanks for the responses. I will have her tested again in March and see if it's better. |

I hope that when you re-rest her she is in the normal range. Good Luck... |
