It'll be an adventure! We're going on an adventure! Posts: 2,141 Group: Members Member #236 Joined: January 8, 2007	After a few days of struggling to make the decision I put my Sweet girl to rest! She was 13 and pretty much falling apart. But just yesterday she trotted to the mail box and was hungrier than usual. I steeled myself and kept to my plan. She was a rescue dog I got 11 years ago. A Smooth collie, she was very sweet and quite the companion to my three kitties. They will miss her and may be surprised the next time they stick their heads in the dog bowl, sharing her meals. Not many dogs are tolerant of kitties in their dinner! It did make her eat better towards the end! She brought me years of joy but I know she feels better now! She is with her 2 sisters and her best buddy Georgia (my Collie who died some years ago) For the 1st time in 20 years I do not have a dog! I got no sleep last night for thinking of her sweet face as she crossed over that bridge. Mr. Gunnar and I are off on vacation this Friday and then have several more adventures planned. Once we return home for good I will be searching for a new dog, perhaps even two! Godspeed to you Tara Belle! You were special and will be missed! I love you girl! Never forget it! It was so hard to not see her this morning and when I go home it will be tough to not have her greet me at the gate!

You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair. I tried so hard to let you know that I was standing there. It's possible for me to be so near you everyday. And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide, I'll gallop across to greet you and we'll stand there, side by side. I have so many things to show you, there's so much for you to see. Be patient, live your journey out...then come home to be with me.

What a wonderful life you gave her - if I can make a hopelessly biased plug, there is a book just published called "Old Dogs are the Best Dogs" - it just so happens my Stanley made it into this book, although I didn't know it, as his pictures were taken last year when he was 16. The story of Harry was similiar to my Tara Belle! I cried yesterday! We had been on vacation so Tara would have been at camp! But normally Mr. g would have to plan when to go get her.
