Siobhan, thank you SO much! So sorry about Matilda. I can tell you, it feels amazing to be giving a needy dog a home. Soon enough, you'll be able to do the same.

I just recieved an email from the rescue director that they got MORE than their goal donated for Montana (Kota!)'s treatment. So, the leftover is going to help another dog they just rescued who came up heartworm positive.

I just love this board. <3  <3

We are sorting out the details on when she will be shipped up and whatnot, I will keep you all posted. Thank you, sincerely!

Any idea what size collar a 30# dog might wear? Someone at work told me 14-16"...

BH1, what size does your ACD wear?

Update, finally!!!

Kota is going to be re-tested at the end of this week for heartworm. So long as she tests negative, she will be on the following weeks transport up here and I will have a new dog on Monday 1/19!

We are so excited, and crossing our fingers her test comes back negative. I just cannot wait to bring this baby "home"!

oops. A little late with the reply :innocent:

First, let me catch the little worm....sometimes we have mega-skittish days :sigh:

Mick is 44 pounds of muscle and bone. If you squeeze her you can feel almost no fat between her ribs and her skin. She is often referred to as Kenworth :innocent: Very weird breed, but a wonderful experience. Exactly the opposite of any dog I've ever had - intense, wary, stand-offish, follows rather than leads (guess that's why they're called heelers!), and focuses on me. Definitely not a Golden Retriever!

Her collar was a hand-me-down. It's very Texan! From end to end it is approx 20". From end of buckle to worn area it is 16.5"

I am so happy Kota is well :cloud9:

Kota is here!!! And she is an absolute LOVE. Such a sweetheart and just wants to kiss us and get pats and loving. As soon as she saw us she came up and jumped up like she was hugging me and I started crying immediately, LOL. Oh, and she's GORGEOUS!

We'll have to be patient, as she really doesn't know much. She's learning so quickly, though and she's only been here 3 hours. It was clear she had no clue what stairs were. She got used to them, though after a couple trips up and down.

She and Toddy were instant buddies. They are getting along famously. Here's some pics of tonight.. no outside ones yet as there's a good foot 1/2 of snow on the ground.
