New show managers, new way of doing things. It is more exclusive this year for the A/O, juniors and ponies.

They must likely won't be posted until next week or the following week. All the shows have to have their results sent in before they can comfirm all the points... :tantrum:

I didn't want to go to harrisburg this year and correspondingly didn't campaign enough (nor enter) but i'm crossing my fingers that I make it in for WIHS...it will be a close one...so I too am impatiently waiting.

RH you are crazy (not in a bad way LOL). Why would you rather show at WIHS than Harrisburg??? I really admire the steads that show at WIHS. If I were a horse showing there, I think I'd hang myself in my haynet. Granted, I have never actually shown at either venue, but have worked for people at both - and if I were a horse, I'd much rather show at Harrisburg.

WIHS is my hometown horse show and the one i grew up going to as a kid. I think PA'ers feel similar about Harrisburg. It's also one that's close enough that my mother might be able to attend. That means a lot to me. She loves watching Atti on the live feed, but it would be nice for her to see him go in person. His first year showing there with Winn my farrier actually brought his wife and kids to watch him so they could see the fruits of his labor--it warmed my heart. WIHS is just my hometown show, craptastic is it may be.

I think it is very cool to show in the Verizon Center, even if its a bit of a hassle. (And it has become such a great neighborhood!) If I were to choose, I'd choose WIHS too.

Washington is also my hometown horse show- growing up every year for my birthday (in November) my mother would buy myself and a friend tickets for Gambler's Choice Night as my birthday gift- it was certainly a highlight of my year and made me more interested in showing at that level.

Those who may go about talking about what a crappy show it is might want to join the board of directors and help the show out. The people who work there work very hard to provide a good horse show. Logistically it is a very difficult horse show to run. I have worked at the horse show a couple different years and have always enjoyed it- even if I was a little tired! They do a GREAT exhibitor's lounge and it is very clear when lunging times/schooling times are. Last year was my first year showing there- I had a blast! My horse went just fine and was happy and cozy in his stall at night!

I remember staying up for like 72 hours straight or some such craziness...but if your horses are stabled down below (which was fortunate enough to happen when I've worked there) - it's a blast. The girls I was working with and I would go to CVS each day and buy tons of candy. We lived off a sugar high for days!

Stayed up for 72 hours straight on candy? Are you sure you got your candy from CVS and not the PrayerList? I don't know about his "candy" but I've heard about his "soda" and can only imagine!

We actually had a 50th anniversary committee that was a "knock off board" that didn't cost anything to join. They were invited by board members to join- and they met once a month to give ideas toward the 50th anniversary show. If you have any last minute ideas that won't take ridiculous amount of effort, or ideas for next year (do remember that this is the last month before the show, we are pretty jam packed) let me know and I'll bring it before the board. We are always open to new ideas (maybe not September 5th...but...lol)!
