Out of one side of her mouth, MBP claims the injuries were catastrophic, and caused "a myriad of other health problems". Out of the other side, she claims she would never allow an animal to suffer. Does she have multiple-personality disorder? How can she possibly reconcile those two statements? allowing an animal with "catastrophic injuries" (her words!) to continue to live, with a "myriad of other health problems" is abuse, plain and simple. I hope this ends her career and destroys her life as she knows it. I really do. |

Sadly, it doesn't seem to have affected her business one iota. She had a bunch of schooling shows over the winter, and a bunch of trainers (some of with their own set of interesting ethics) showed up. I haven't personally seen her at any shows in NJ but I don't think she's stopped training/boarding or lost much business. She had some folks in the locals/breeding classes at Devon-- including the person who was leasing Petunia. It disgusts me.

Ugh. This whole thing makes me so sick. All she had to do was make ONE phone call. To the owner. As.soon.as.it.happened. I can't fathom that she will get off. She had better not. |

That article only indicated that the lessee has had the changes against her dropped, not MBP. I would think MBP had a higher standard of care since the took care of Petunia every day, and lessee can argue she didn't regularly come out to the barn (I suspect that's untrue, but that doesn't mean it's not the excuse that was given). I really, really hope justice is served in the end. |

Without going into all the details which I am not at liberty to do, the prosecutor could not prove that the leasee had knowledge as to Petunia's condition. We all know that what is reality and what can be proven in court are two different things. Although MBP has been bragging that the charges were going to be dropped against her, she was reindicted by the grand jury. The case will most likely be going to trial. I will let every know when and where. Perhaps someone with some chutpah, instead of those hiding under a rock, will come forward with the evidence to prove Sifford knew about Petunia's condition. Please do not mistake a lack of evidence with a verdict of not guilty. There was no trial for Sifford. It was not as though she was found not guilty ny a judge or jury. The charges were dropped for lack of evidence. Kudos to the Salem County Prosecutor's Office for taking this case so seriously. They really deserve a medal. Edited by clearound, Jul 8 2008, 03:44 PM.

Please do let us know when the trial is occuring. I would love to come meet you and sit in for a while, if the judge allows the public to watch the trial. You also deserve a medal for the excellent work you've done. Sifford is, IMHO, small potatoes as she's not a professional-- if someone deserves a black mark that prevents them from being in charge of anyone else's animals again-- it's the so-called professional who was in charge of poor Petunia. |

Clearound I applaud your efforts along with the Keifer's. I hope this goes to trial... we'll ALL be there. In the meantime MBP should not be so cocky and arrogant. Justice prevailed and one can never under-estimate the power of the internet! MBP you ought to be ashamed of yourself and never be allowed to care or have any animals!

I am glad MBP is still going to trial for what she did. Kudos to you Randi for your hard work & for standing up for Petunia.

mbp is definitely going to trial because she was the main cause of Petunia's death but the Sifford's might not go at the same time gaurenteed they will be going also eventually with a law suit against them not for any profit but for the sake of poor Petunia may she rest in peace do not tell me that you could lease a pony and put it in a barn and NEVER see that it was dying these people are just out right sick |

A&F - Do you know something that I don't? I represent the Keifers and at this point there has been no determination when and if a civil case will be filed. Please fill me in on where you are getting your information. |

A&F, if all you are interested in doing is stirring the pot, allow me to direct you to boards that welcome that sort of thing. It is not welcome here.

Just in case you forget how horrific Petunia looked right before she was humanely destroyed... http://fuglyhorseoftheday.blogspot.com/2007/10/when-bad-things-happen-at-good-barns.html Edited by Silver Bells, Jul 9 2008, 02:49 AM.
