I took photos of all of the participants in Swan Lake's Hunter Derby, both first and second rounds. Here they are, and they should be in order from first rider on course to last. All photos (c) Renn Goldberg/3bays Designs, please do not use without permission and that includes on your website or I'll yell at you in big purple letters, you know, the works. ;)

Here's the link to the album.

I used to board at Kim's mom's place when I lived in the area. that was during Kim's two last junior years when she had Sammy. Do you ride with her? I noticed you had extra pictures of her. I didn't know she had gotten married. Tell her congrats from Jessica (Reffler) Turner.

I saw she got best dressed. It's not hard to look good when you're Kim! Too bad she couldn't change into a top hat for the pictures or the victory gallop. Don't eventers change out of their approveds for ribbon ceremonies?

Could someone describe the course(s)? What is that little log hop?

I'll tell Kim you said hi! I train with Caves Farm, which partners up with Springtown for some of the shows. I took tons of photos of her because she was riding my friend's horse Paparazzi.

The course was brilliantly done. Course 1:

Right lead canter across the ring, long diagonal to a snake fence (pictured), providing options at 4'. Single set on rail by judge, option at 4', unrelated bending to vertical 3. Left lead canter to 4, the hay bales on the diagonal in center of ring (pictured), option at 4'. Two-stride oxer-oxer in and out on outside of ring (pictured). Jump 7 is a coop leading out of the ring, right angle turn to white gate (pictured), long unrelated bending to natural coop oxer (pictured), easy rollback to a second gate (pictured) and gallop up the shallow hill back into the ring and over the snake fence in the opposite direction with another unrelated bending line to an oxer.

Handy course:
Fence 1 is the same snake fence. Inside turn optional to hay bales in opposite direction from before, inside turn optional to coop out of the ring. Same line from coop to white gate, then trot the little log hop (most horses had no trouble with this; Perfectionist got offended afterwards.) Canter back into ring and over snake fence, same line from 6 to 7 as from course 1's 11 to 12 in that unrelated bending line to an oxer. Inside turn possible and preferred to a walk fence 8. Pick up the canter and I think about 10 strides to fence 9, an oxer set where the in-and-out had been before, then a gallop down the diagonal to the hay bales again. If A.Loh wouldn't mind I'll post scans of the courses.

Yay! I loff courses!!!! I want to do a Hunter Derby, but at 3'. Nigel might overcome his lack of fanciness with his courage and boldness. He's like one of those olf-fashioned middleweight hunters. Through anything at us. Banks, logs, trot fences. Just don't make me mount in the ring ... or open a gate. well, I could hopen it, but not close it.

Pardon Me took pictures of the course map on my camera. They're at home, though--I'll try to post them tomorrow!
