I have a pony that is not using his rear engine like he should. He Ends up a little hard into the bit in his effort to balance. I have always heard that pulling a horse with too much load instills this but this little bugger has never been pulled on anything more than a cart single or a forecart as a pair. He is understriding about 6 inches. That is a big deal for an 11.2 h pony. Need some input on how to get the little bugger to use his butt. Thanks LF

Hey LF. so nice to see you here again! Have you moved in yet?

So, the pony... are you sure he has no physical issues? Probably are. How straight is he behind? I have a friend with a pony that is almost completely straight behind and he will never track up. Have you tried working him really deep and round, trying to strengthen his top line? How about some photos of the little fellow?

Actually he is a mixed up parts and pieces pony. He is a kill pen reject that I picked up because he was gray and a pony. Buyers don't like that type. Physically he is fine he vets fine, teeth checked and all that good stuff. He is long backed and has never been worked much in his previous life. Part of the problem is at 45 inches he is a little hard for me to school. ;) (fat guy little horse) He has this little short stride pony trot thing going on. He never extends it he just goes faster. I will try to get some pictures. Lf
