Tomorrow My Rosie and Mr. G are off to an HT in Santa Inez. It is probably a 5 hour drive so it will cost us a small fortune to have her hauled down there. Beans and rice for the next month I guess! I iwll be hobbling around trying to be the groom and spectator! He is doing his 2nd Novice course so I am slightly nervous. Rosie is strong willed and stubborn so pray that she is good this weekend. For a Young Red Mare she has many saint like qualities but she is getting more red headed as she ages! My trainer has a stallion who always goes along to shows so Rosie is somewhat influenced by him! Please wish them luck!

Wow, what a weekend! Al and Rosie had a lot of toruble on Dressage and SJ days! Al had a brain fart and went off course on his dressage. The judge was extremely uncomplimentary of Rosie, let alone his bobble! So he was in last place. XC day was great with a double clear! But SJ was a disaster with Rosie stopping out! It brings tears to my eyes as I type. Al is just so inexperienced at jumper type courses and he had trouble. One stop into the 2 stride and then he forgot a fence so had to circle back. To the 2 stride he turned early and she was stubborn enough to say no! The last stop was 1 1/2 stride from the rail, a 2'11" oxer and she ran out. He has trouble steering her straight and she takes complete advantage of him by running out! It was a tough weekend for me and my gang! The only good news was that my trainer designed the course so Al got permission to go out when they were done and try it again at BN height. He and Rosie did ok so in the end it worked out! It pays to know people in high places I guess! The weather completly blew my mind! Dressage day it was 112 when Al rode. By XC day it was only 110! I was in trouble and had to escape to Motel 6 both Friday and Saturday due to feeling faint etc.! I hope to write the weekend off to bad luck and bad weather! Here we spent over a $1,000 to have so much fun! Back to the drawing board for Al and Rosie I guess! I am sad and upset that Rosie can be so stubborn! Jingles for me and my gang are needed! |

Don't worry about Stadium. That ring can be REALLY hard to deal with. It's very small and the jumps come up quickly and are sometimes hard to see. Both my times in there had some turns that make my turn-lovin' heart start racing. (Orion's biggest vice is a tendency to run out to the left. If you don't know how to block his shoulder, he'll surprise you. ) There was also the one time where you jumped #6 but couldn't even see #7 until you were almost on top of it. You just had to start turning and hope you got there. As for dressage? Well, phffft. It is what it is. The prejudices exist everywhere. But good for you all to endure the heat. We had an unbelievable four days there. I'm so glad it's finally cooled off, but too late for all of you. |

Thanks Jaci! For 20 dollah I will hallah about my foot! It was really bad this weekend with new and exciting pain in my ankle. If I do not take Motrin I can barely walk. My stomach is such that food is required with Motrin so in the night I am suffering. It is much better on even ground so I will get better! Yeah I hope Rosie comes around. So many horsses had trouble where he did but Rosie is not so honest when she is tired! At 112 degrees she was tired! Better luck next time but for now I am searching for answers. Rosie needs to go to a H/J show and just do courses. I am looking for a way to do that but without a trailer it is tough! Thanks for caring! I had a tough weekend with the extreme weather and the big bobbles! Not sure I ever want to experince a weekend like that again in my life! If I had been riding I would not have been able to ride!

Oh Steph, I am so sorry! I have been so busy with the new job and everything, I have not been on here in a while. Maybe it would be best to do a few more BN courses? I know Al wants to go bigger and faster, but maybe Rosie just isn't mentally ready? Or maybe it just was the extreme heat? I can't even sit on a horse in the shade drinking a beer when the weather is over abut 90 degrees. Let's get together soon eh? |

That's the funniest thing I've heard all day! Steph, sorry about Al! Probably some schooling dressage and jumper shows would be a good thing to do. Or like Kali said, maybe some BN events? Eventing is hard because you only get that one shot in the ring! The repetition of doing schooling jumper shows might help them out so Rosie can get more consistent. |

I agree Fishy! I am not so worried about the Dressage. Rosie will never be a dressage horse so that is not important to me! What is important is Al and Rosie being comfortable jumping new strange SJ courses, particularly when she is tired. It makes a really big difference when she is tired on Sunday!I alread mentioned to Connie that al and Rosie need to go do 3 or 4 courses away from the barn. Hopefully that can happen! Not having a trailer makes it tougher so we have to find ways to get out there! As far as moving back down to BN I hope that is what he does! she had no trouble with the XC of course. With the SJ Al rode poorly so that contributed to the problem. Boiling brain does not lend itself to sucessful riding! Thanks for caring! I am better now and am going to try riding Miss Rosie on Sunday in the HP! We will see how it goes!
