Hi all,

IHSA needs your help. If you could please answer a few questions, it would be greatly appreciated. I'll be compiling for an upcoming meeting:

1) School Name
2) Graduation Year
3) Do you still ride?
4) Do you still compete? If yes, what division(s)
5) Are you a member of USEF?
6) Anything else you'd like to share about what IHSA has meant to you...

Thank you SO much! (You can answer on this thread or PT me if you'd like.)

Yes.
No.
No.

I don't really think it is related to IHSA but it was so nice to finally have my horse friends be my school friends. Some of my best friends in college were from my riding team. It was great to talk to people about horses at school! I was also fortunate to be part of a great program with a great coach.

Thanks!

For those responding, did riding IHSA impact your current riding situation?

1) School Name -Centenary College (national champs both years I was there!)
2) Graduation Year- 1979 (yikes!)
3) Do you still ride? - you betcha
4) Do you still compete? If yes, what division(s)- Yes, AA hunters
5) Are you a member of USEF? Yes
6) Anything else you'd like to share about what IHSA has meant to you
It was great to be part of a school team because in high school I was always at the barn and showing when everyone else ran track, played tennis, etc. (this was back in the day- today I see moms schlepping their kids from practise to practise and buying them a car as soon as they can drive-that really wasn't the case when I grew up)

1) School Name: Virginia Tech
2) Graduation Year: 2004
3) Do you still ride? Yup!
4) Do you still compete? Yes....in the Adult Jumpers and the Adult Hunters
5) Are you a member of USEF? Yes.
6) Anything else you'd like to share about what IHSA has meant to you: ehhh.....I preferred to ride on my own. I enjoyed being with my teammates and liked the relationships I made, but I had 3 of my own horses to concentrate on. I didn't ride on my team very long. I enjoyed showing on my own rather than on the team....although the experience was good.

1. Auburn University
2. 2004
3. Yes
4. On a short break, but in general, yes/Younger A/As
5. Yes
6. I didn't really like it that much...I was on the team before it was an official sport at Auburn, so the horses weren't that great. They were also just starting to get some real hunter/jumper riders on the team, so it was a really strange experience for me to go from a nice show barn to riding with people who didn't really understand the whole thing. They were definitely nice girls, don't get me wrong, it just wasn't my thing. Mostly, I HATED not being able to ride in my saddle.

and I didn't think acting as a school's mascot either (1) made you a student, or (2) entitled you to consider yourself "on the team"
