Thank you, thank you Rachel for helping me fix my live feed issue. Do you want a job replacing our useless IT guy?

Those storms were CRAZY. I scratched my boy from the adults - the footing was sort of sketchy even before monsoon #1 and then there was just no way. Then, as I was packing up, monsoon #2 came through. I am so glad I could get my trailer out. The tractor guy was eyeing me...I felt much better that he was there to help if needed! :innocent:

I have to admit, I am getting tired of loading and unloading my horses in the rain all the time!!!! :psycho:

Sorry to be redundant -- I posted this on the Upperville Check-in thread, but then found ya'll over here. Here's my recap of my less than delightful day yesterday:

Oh dear Tom in heaven, yesterday was a nightmare! After waiting for 5+ hours for the two divisions of Older A/A's to go, and seeing as how I was second to last in the order for the Middles, I became increasingly nervous that the weather was going to turn bad before I got into the ring. And of course, as I started warming up in the schooling area, the sky turned purple. Then the lighting came and we were ordered back to the tents. And then all hell broke loose with the lightning, and the thunder, and the wind, and the torrential rain. And the horses in our tent were all screaming and running around in their stalls, as our tent sounded like it was going to lift off the ground. And then the power went out. Oh my.

When it finally blew over, we knew that the footing was going to be bad -- it already was sketchy before the storm. Ms. Trainer and I decided that I would go into the ring, but I'd pull up if it was too slick or if Project Pony was too nervous about it. The footing was indeed dreadful, but he was a dream and bravely picked his way around the slick corners and jumped out of the deep, deep slop. We actually had a great trip, all things considered, although he slipped on take-off to the second to last jump so he hung up in the air a bit. After that slip we decided not to tempt fate a second time, so I scratched the second class. But we must have gotten bonus points for degree of difficulty, as we ended up fifth in our one class.

Oh, and then as I drove home, it started all over again, with the tornado warnings, and the wind and the rain. I returned home to find that a big, old oak had come down across the street from my house, taking the power lines with it. We've been told we probably won't have power again until Saturday. :shoot: I imagine that the show grounds were hit hard again as well. Good luck to those of you who are slogging it out today. It's supposed to be ungodly hot for the rest of the week. Hopefully I'll be able to get my trailer out by then . . .

Amandale, I am right there with you on those sentiments!

What a mess. I was in the schooling ring warming up when it started to hit. Barely made it back to our tents in one piece. So I scratched. I was already getting worried about the ring after watching the Older Adults go. Lots of slipping and sliding. rails and stops.

My truck and trailer are covered in mud. I saw that tractor guy eyeballing me too! I cannot believe I made it out on my own. :bigwhoop:

It is a shame what a mess it becomes when it rains there.

Seriously, it is becoming ridiculous. 4 in a row for me. It stormed right as I was about to get on to show the first week of Lexington. Then it monsooned Thurs. night at James River when I dropped my horses off and I was sure I was going to get struck by lightning. My god I have never in my life been so drenched. And it continued raining all that weekend. Then it was sloppy at Keswick. And now Upperville! The rain gods apparently feel like this about me: :nyah: .

Stay tuned to hear me complain about showing in 100 degree weather soon, however! :point:

Karyn Z - I got a call around 2pm that they had cancelled the AOs for today and they were going to have the Gamblers Choice and Adult Hunter classics starting at 4pm. The grounds didn't look much better this AM. Hunter 2 was a mess. Great to talking to you!

TPL - Keep smiling ;).

Mr List - Did your Gilligan get-up go to your head? The dress was HOT PINK, not red... and getting me out of my dress takes a lot more than an online request! <3

As a matter of fact, I did show yesterday, and lived. If you took out the last line of my second trip, it was pretty good! My steed had a lot of heart, as in hindsight some of the distances I asked for were reeaaallllyyyy looooooong, even on solid footing. :shoot:

Thank you Miss Wade for answering my simple question with a simple explanation. TPL should take notes! :P

Upperville... ya gotta love it. :cheer:

I just realized that. I was like 'WTF is the actual course?' when they were all doing different things.

So, you get to choose you're own course and just have to incorporate certain things into it? Sounds like a blast. Maybe I should have one at my show.
