I'd love to hear everyone elses' stories too. I'm cooking Passover for 25 this weekend at my house(where we are all sitting, I do not know as yet but those are details that will work themselves out, right?). I love to cook, love to entertain etc. It's fun. Usually I do pot luck and everyone brings something so it's easy. Not for Passover...it is MY Jewish food and I want it done MY way. Enter the lists, the post it notes on platters and dishes, the lists, the counting of plates, of people, of pots and pans(not enough, borrowing from the bf), did I mention lists? So I mentioned this to both my mother and my sister...and they have concluded I have turned into my mother from the control freak thing right down to the emotional meltdown that occurred this AM regarding dinner.

I hope you survive!! And don't take any one with you if you don't...... Sorry couldn't help myself. I'm sure it will be wonderful and everyone will enjoy it although I do understand that Passover is a great deal of work starting with clearing out the kitchen of non-kosher food. |

Oh Seal...don't kid yourself. I am not a religious Jew and will in fact be the only full Jew at dinner
It is NOT a kosher for passover meal. There is a LOT of traif being served including noodle kugel and rice krispie treats for starters!

AH! Well then just have fun. No one will know if you didn't do it "right" or something is missing because you ran out of time. Only you will know that and guess what, doesn't matter in the larger scheme of things. Enjoy the process and the company. |

Noodle Kugel for passover? I wanna come!!! I noticed my mother has purchased, sadly enough, gigantic prize club sized cans of gefilte fish. I'm skeered. Fortunately, I'm also a vegetarian. Apparently my dad's made plenty of other great things, though. |

My mom makes her fish from scratch Trixie. I can't stand the smell or looks of the stuff so we aren't having it at MY dinner!!! |

Good luck. The thought of cookie for 25 people makes me faint at heart. |

My dad has done from scratch before also... I think ultimately they decided it wasn't worth it. I totally don't understand this - the guy is a great cook with a real appreciation for very good food. I have no idea why he insists on serving molten fish in fish jelly. |

My mom is cooking for at least 6, and I have a horse show that day (yeah, a 2 day local show scheduled on Passover, smart, right?) So instead of doing horse day, I'm doing pony day, and my class will be early, so I'll be able to get out early. However the mama has to drop me off at the barn on Friday a little bit early, leave me there, and I'll come home with a friend so that she can cook. Good luck, Heineken! |
