The future Mr. t and I have definitely decided to run off to Vegas and get married by Elvis! :P

It will be May 6th or 7th, and we think we like the Graceland Chapel, as they look to have the best of the Elvises (Elvii?), but now we need hotel recommendations. We're looking for somewhere not too expensive, not too scary and fun. I'm kind of getting into the spirit of the whole tacky Vegas thing.

Oh, I also need to decide which Elvis songs we'd like our Elvis to sing- Mr. t wants "Suspicious Minds" as that is his favorite Elvis song. I've managed to convince him that it's not an appropriate wedding song, but I haven't managed to come up with anything better other than "Love Me Tender". Any Elvis fans out there?

Oh, and the real Tarragon and I survived our first horseshow in eons- seriously, I haven't shown since 2000! The weather was horrid, with thunderstorms all day Saturday (they called the show for several hours due to lightening), then of course the rings were under water, and then Sunday there were gale-force winds (have you actually ever seen a dressage ring blow down?), but Tara and I managed to muddle our way through a few First and Second level tests with only a few glaring mistakes (mine!). Our scores weren't as high as I had hoped for, but our ribbons were pretty.

I did manage to eke out the other First Level score I need for my Bronze, and if I could just learn how to ride well enough to stay out of Tara's way, we should hopefully be able to get our Second Level scores soon. I guess that means I need to seriously start working on our pirouettes for Third!

   Congrats on your successful show. Fantastic after not doing it for 7 years. And that's cool that you got your Bronze score for First. That is my goal for this year.

And the wedding plans sound funnnnn :cheer: :cheer: Can't help you much with music ideas but we will surely need pictures of this!

Tara is BEEEEUTIFULLLLL :cloud9:

I love Suspicious Minds. Maybe not the best wedding song, but I love it. Always On My Mind is a great one too.

Congrats on a successful show. Those 2nd level scores will come soon.
Tara looks gorgeous. <3

Congrats on the show!

I think you guys will have a great time in Vegas. I have been to Vegas a couple times-- I really liked New York, New York. The rooms are really pretty-- lots of dark wood and marble. The main level is a kinda like a little city- streets that wind around with shops, cafes and restuarants- and a roller coaster! It has that Vegas feel without being too 'Vegas-y.' I have stayed at Mandalay Bay- its expensive, maybe a little boring- although there are neat restuarants there-- rumjungle is fun to eat at and I recommend checking out the wine tower at Aureole. The last time I went to Vegas we stayed at Treasure Island-- I don't recommend it. Its an older building and it shows. TI is only place in Vegas that has ever really smelled smoky- the new hotels have such fancy air systems that you never smell smoke. If you want to spurge- stay at Bellagio--- some day I would love to stay there!

My DH would say that I would pick "I Did It My Way" as my favorite Elvis song but I think he would be trying to imply that I'm bullheaded!

Congrats on the show and deciding on Vegas!

Thanks, y'all! It was incredibly fun to be back showing again, and it seemed like Tara enjoyed herself too. She's such a saint of a mare to put up with me :P

The song suggestions are great, MGP! I'm off to i-tunes to check them out.

I am really neither an Elvis nor a Vegas fan (though the latter might change if I ever take up drinking or gambling), but the Bellagio is really beautiful if you are looking for somewhere to stay. I remember the Venetian being nice as well.

No real advice on the Vegas wedding, but it sounds like you'll have a great time. The most important thing is to do it how you want!! :)

Umm. First there's that little issue of no groom.

But yeah - we could do a SS wedding. With an Elvis Hawaii them.

I think Quest would look charming like this.
