Has anyone else had an old friend come visit after a very long time? My best friend (and, of course, riding buddy) from boarding school is coming tomorrow, to stay for a night, and I haven't seen her in 17 years!!! I am so happy she's coming, but I just don't know what to do with her - after she settles in and showers, I'll take her to dinner downtown, probably. But then what about Wednesday? I don't know if I should do touristy things with her (it is our Nation's Capital, but after 34 years I'm no longer impressed). I want her to have FUN.

So if you were visiting an old friend in the DC area, what would you want to do?

Yay! How exciting! I really don't have any suggestions... it's hard to look at NoVA/DC from an 'outsider' perspective - LOL! I think that going to DC and checking out some museums is definitely in order though! I am sure you both will have a great time.

Pats to Reese!

I usually do one day walking around the monuments/museums (National Gallery is my FAVORITE), and then one day out in VA wine/horse country.

If all else fails, there's always the outlets!

Dinner and drinks and talk talk talk and pictures and all that will take all night!!

Then if I could see my best friend one more time I'd take her riding with me. :,( I'd be sure to tell her all the things I really want her to hear.

That's going to be so much fun!

I got together with an old friend in college - we hadn't seen each other in about 15 years - and we gabbed so much, it didn't matter if we didn't go do anything.

But I love playing tourist in DC, so it would be easy for me. LOL
