My cat sheds INSANELY. She is a medium length haired cat. We have the furminator. She is eating science diet hairball/shedding control. I am astounded she isn't bald. The cat is wonderful, just sheds an INSANE amount. I have even had a complete workup done by the vet a few times just to make sure she doesn't have any metabolic issues or anything. The result from several vets: "She's fine, just sheds a lot". Any suggestions from the TOC'ers? |

What are you feeding her? That can make a huge difference in their coat, shedding, etc. |

Hmm.. you might want to try to gradually switch her to one of the more high quality foods (Wellness, Eagle Pack, Royal Canin, etc.) to see if that helps. I know changing to a higher quality food DRAMATICALLY decreased the shedding on my kitties. She could have a food allergy as well, but if her only symptom is shedding alot, that might not be it (but I'm not a vet). Bathing every so often (I do mine once a month) can help alot too. |

Well, you can go the online route if you want. Petfooddirect.com has them all, so do a bunch of others. Just type the name in a search and you'll find a bunch of sites that sell them. I get my food at Pet Supplies Plus.. PetsMart sells the Royal Canin brand, but that's it. All of those foods have their own sites where you can locate a dealer near you, so I'd try that All of those brands should have a Senior formula that you could try. Alot of them will send you samples too, so you can see if she'll like them (if she's picky). If you choose that route, give it at least a month or two to see if there's any results. |

Ah, yes. She doesn't like this.... truly. I tried it. She also was NOT happy being vacuumed. Mr.Naters has the scratches to prove it! |

Got the furminator...doesn't do diddly for me... vacuuming more would help... but it gets matted into the couches, and I put a hole in one couch by vacuuming it too much (don't tell Mr. Naters, I put a pillow over the hole, and he hasn't noticed yet) |

My SO constantly leaves the used pulled off pieces on the kitchen table and Ill come home from work and the long haired kitty has it stuck somewhere on her. At least it gives me a little giggle. |
