I was driving home from work yesterday when I heard one of the most offensive radio commercials I have ever heard!

"The Mommy Special"-- Tummy tuck, liposuction, and a boob job for the bargain price of $8 grand.

I RARELY get offended- but as a woman I thought this was beyond offensive on so many levels :spew:

Should add I'm not even a mom, at least not to human babies). I'm still annoyed just thinking about it! Should I just calm down? :pissed:

Let's write to the sponsor of that ad and ask if they offer a "Daddy Special"?

Hair implants, penile enlargement, and love handle liposuction. :teehee:

Seriously, what irks me is that it is a combination of our insecurities and society's unrealistic expectations regarding female beauty that have created a market for such things.

I would write them a huge complaint letter, as well as send one to the radio station.

That's pretty bad.

They should just be more blunt and call it the 'I got fat and hate my body' special. But I'm guessing no one would go for that. Calling it the mommy special gives women an 'excuse' for being out of shape.

Me? I've got no such excuse so I'm realistic. It would be the 'I lOVE Chocolate' special for me.

Was it in reference to Mother's Day, perhaps?

If my husband gave me that for Mother's Day, I would divorce him! <_<

How utterly awful! I just don't understand the obsession with perfection at EVERY age and at ANY cost!

:sigh: I can only imagine the sort of child a mother who feels the need to run out and get a tummy tuck, lip and a breast lift would raise. Superficial and vain immediately spring to mind.

Snack Pack...great catch line! "Too low? Come in for the Mommy Special!"...

Personally, I AGREE with 2BayBoys' "Daddy Special"!!! HEY, why NOT?

Yeah...this obsession that we ALL have to be "perfect" and look like we're 18 all our lives is ABSURD.

:cloud9: The wonder of the human race IS our diversity. :cloud9: The wonder of living IS aging...

Tom-dammit, I EARNED these lines and the droopy things! I have SURVIVED! Pffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffttt...DON't get me on my :soapbox: .

No. It's so offensive that almost do have to laugh to avoid getting angry. I do, anyway.

I guess I'm the odd one out, but I sure wouldn't mind "the girls" being put back where they used to be before pregnancy and breastfeeding took their toll on them (don't want bigger, just back up on the shelf thankyouverymuch)... I don't need the lipo since I have managed to get within 5 lbs of my pre-pregnancy weight and since I scar easily I would avoid a tummy tuck like the plague... My OB/GYN's office had pamphlets for a local plastic surgeon advertising it as the "Mommy Makeover".
