I started new medication last year that has apparently said to all the fat in food, "Hey, let's come have a party right here! Y'all can crash at my place!" Since then I've put on 10 pounds that I can. Not. Get. Rid. Of. I'm pretty active. I spend a lot of time at the barn, riding and caring for Tip; I power-walk to all my classes; and I'm at the gym doing cardio and weight training about five times a week. I feel like I could probably handle it if it weren't so bloody impossible to eat healthy here. The food here tends to be pretty all right, but it's Southern cooking, and not in the good way- there's butter in EVERYTHING and tons of oils, and even choosing grilled options, whole-wheat, etc., skipping dessert and fruit juices, I feel like I'm getting over 3000 calories a day, and all of it goes to my stomach, so while I've got arms and shoulders like a linebacker and really toned, strong legs, I look like a frickin' marshmallow. :brickwall: I am just so FRUSTRATED with trying to do everything right and still gaining weight- not all of which is muscle!

ARRRRRRRRRRRRGH! :soapbox:

That just sucks Renn. Sounds like you are doing everything right. Is there any way your doctor could change the medication to something without the side effects? Might be worth asking anyway.

The plan that Sannois mentioned is pretty cool too.

Can you keep food in your dorm? Lean cuisine can be whipped up pretty easily in a microwave, breakfast is easy- try zone bars. If you could cut down the number of times you have to eat there, it might fix things to some extent.

Good suggestions from grace. Also, can you get off campus and go to a grocery store to buy fresh fruits and veggies to snack on? Of course, that assumes you have a fridge in your room to store them. But that might be a good investment to give yourself healthy options.
